Morning routine

Do you get up and shower/get dressed as soon as you get up? I've tried to adopt this routine but I just can't. I get up and have my coffee- look up the news and poke around the internet- I usually shower about 20 minutes before we have to leave for school, which means I will have been awake for about 1 1/2 hours by then.

I do not take a shower as soon as I get up but I should...I really need a better routine.

I go to the gym first thing. Shower there, and I finish the rest of my routine (brush my teeth, hair, makeup, etc...) back home... my morning commute is only about 5 steps usually from my bathroom to my office.

Nope, I need to wake up and get going for a while before I take a shower/get dressed. My attention in the morning is in getting everyone else up and moving. Here's what happens here:

I get up, brush my teeth, wash my face, comb my hair, get dressed. Wake up DD13, Get the coffee going, sit down at the computer to farm and watch the news. Drive DD13 to high school. When I get home, I wake up DH and DS7. Breakfast for them, get DS dressed and moving, start school work with DS7 (he's homeschooled), think about dinner (or put it in the crockpot), then around 10 DS gets a break from school and I take my shower then.

But then again, I am not heading off to work. If I did work (and when I did work before kids), my shower would be at night to save time in the morning.

4:25 A.M. - Dry hair/apply makeup/get dressed.
4:50 A.M. - Go downstairs, take meds, feed dog, let dog out.
5:15 A.M. - In my car driving to work.

I have my tea while I'm checking e-mails at work and then eat awhile later (around 7:30) while working.

I don't usually shower right away, but if I have an early meeting to work at I will get up and shower right away. Usually I get up and work out, then shower and get DD13 off to school. Come home dry my hair, makeup then drive DD10 to school. If I don't have to go to work, then I come home and have my coffee and poke around on the internet.

Yep, that's why I leave so early--to AVOID it.

I get up at 4 and start working almost right away. Then hubby gets up around 5 and I help get him out the door and I go back to work. Kids get up around 6 or 7, so I stop working and do a quick workout (after playing around on the DIS for a little bit!).

Then I shower. So to answer your question, I'm up around 4 hours before I shower. When I worked out of the house, I showered the night before to streamline the morning process.

OMG, How do you do it. Getting up at 4:25 when it turns cold. I hate that. All I want to do is stay in the warm bed.

I get up turn on the Today show, then I feed the kitties then get myself some cereal then turn on the laptop to browse the overnight news. Then I get in the shower after being up around 1 hour, then out the door...

When I had a job to get to I got up and showered immediately and then got my coffee and got going. I didn't have time to have coffee first as I had to leave the house around 6:30am.

Now that I don't work and stay home with the kids I am very slack! I get my coffee, come on the internet to read the news (both real news and DIS news! ), and don't shower until around mid-morning.

DH and I both get up at 6:30am and bring in from the pasture and feed all 25 of our horses, then at 7am DH gets in the shower while I eat breakfast and put on the Today Show. Then I iron him a shirt and pants and make him breakfast to bring to work. He leaves at 7:45am.

When I worked, I took a shower as soon as I woke up because I took the 6:47 train. Now that I'm home with kids, I get up at 6:30 with the 2 bigger ones, make them breakfast, make their lunches and see them off. then I wake ds at 7:30, he leaves at 8:05 and I head out for a walk. When I get home at about 9:30, I have my tea and then shower.

I keep thinking it would be better to shower and get dressed right away, but I never do. I, too, enjoy having my morning coffee first. And we watch the local news and maybe part of The Early Show too. Then I have computer time (which is now ), then I usually clean up the kitchen and maybe do some housework so it can be 10 - 11 a.m. before I finally head up to take a shower and get dressed.

I get up and shower right away. Home, DisneyWorld, wherever........

However, when we visit my in-laws (for a weekend/Thanksgiving/Christmas, etc) we get up and lollygag around. Bacially get up, eat breakfast together (although breakfast is not a big sit down meal, just everybody grabbing whatever but we eat together) and then we retreat to the living room, that paper is read, TV is watched, and then we all begin our round of showers. I hate it. I keep meaning just to get up and take my shower, but it would throw everybody off........or else my FIL would call me selfish if I did that. Sigh.

Get up 5:50am, wake up daughter, start shower, go to the bathroom, take shower, get dressed, wake up son and rewake daughter if necessary, feed rabbit, turn on TV, make kid's lunches, make kid's breakfast, make sure everyone has everything they need for the day, exit house, drive to school, drive to work. This hardly varies. Long way of saying....yes, shower is just about the first thing I do. Otherwise, I'm hardly awake.

I get up at 5:30am, shower, blow dry my hair, and get dressed for the day. I shower first thing every morning no matter what our schedule is or where we are at. I feel like the walking dead if I do not. After I shower, I start the coffee and wake my dh and ds14. While they shower and get ready, I make breakfast. My dh leaves for work at about 6:45am. I start waking my younger two (dd11 and ds9) about the time my dh is leaving, and I take my ds14 to school at about 6:55am. After I return home, I get my younger two children moving and functioning, and we start our school day. They are homeschooled. Without my morning shower, I would move too slowly.

Up at 5 o'clock and right into the shower. Makeup, hair and get dressed. Then wake DH. While he is showering make coffee and lunches, sit with DH for about 20 minutes and have coffee and watch news. DH leaves for work and then I wake up DD's for school. Pick up anything that needs to be picked up. Load up the washing machine for when I get home, put away any clean dishes, feed dog and cats, bring out garbage and sometimes even vacuum before I leave

...can't you tell I'm a morning person
