We've been once and weren't morning people as a group. I am an early riser by nature so come this trip I am hell bent to get to the park early even if I have to go by myself  so I am wondering if there is anything special that is done right before opening every day that I shouldn't miss or if it's always just lines of people waiting for the gates to open? What are some great things to see or do in the early hours? Don't the main street shops open earlier than the park, or no? Things like that. Thanks so much!

Well on the days of MM or early entry the lines do tend to queue up. And it really only lets you take advantage of a few extra rides an hour before the park opens. Honestly, we just hit La Brea Bakery or the Blue Ribbon Bakery on main street (they have the most awesome cinnamon rolls, mmmm mmm). Then we take our time strolling around until everything opens up.

Depending on when you're going, the lines get long early and when the gates open most people rush down main street to get to the rides before the rest of the crowd does. LOL We've never taken time to see anything else in the early morning, as being able to get on a bunch of rides with little to no wait in the first hour or two is wonderful. We are going with the same extended family members we went with last year, and my immediate family was the only early risers. It totally paid off though b/c by the time they arrived we had done 6-8 rides and had 2-3 fast passes in hand. Lucky for them, with the combo of child switch passes we were able to share a couple of our fastpasses with them. Even though they saw how much we got done, they still don't want to get there early this year. Go figure! :confused3

Oh a diser just like me. I get up early go and leave everyone else sleeping. By the time i get back they are all dressed and ready to go get some breakfast. i rid Peter Pan first. Then progress around fantasyland for the other rides. OK OK I ride Peter Pan 2 times in a row then move on. If you are interested in riding Dumbo that would be next ride after Pp. I Then go get all the fast passes I can for various rides. Some tiems it works out I can get 3 -- but 2 for sure. I take all the park passes with me. Not sure if that works now as someone said you had to have it validated for that day to get a fast pass. Maybe some one can let you know for sure . Have fun get a treat at the bakery with a drink and live it up.

Happy Planning

We found this to be a good opportunity to meet some characters since that's our DS's fav part. There were often a couple right inside the turnstyles, and then several more as you go through the tunnels next to the fire house and the AP area.
They also have all the little cars and trollys going so DS thought it was great fun to ride some of these (when we wouldn't want to do it later in the day to "waste" precious park time). Then we'd stroll up inside the photo shop or carnation a couple minutes before rope drop so we could make our way to peter pan quickly.
So if you have younger ones, it's a great time to get some fun things in and avoid crowds for later.

I prepare everything I can the night before so I'm not waking my DS too early in the morning getting ready (so he's not too cranky by time we get there! LOL).

I am another one that will leave sleeping dogs lie and head out on my own. I ride a few rides and take a ton of pics. You get less unknown people in your pics that way ;) I stroll around and get something to snack on. It's a wonderful time in DL.
