Morning opening show at Magic Kingdom

When we were at the Magic Kingdom a couple years ago we saw the train pull in and a show opening the park. Was just curious if that is something that they do every day? Also, does anyone know how they choose the family that rides in with the characters? Will be my daughter's 6th birthday one of the days.

When I was at the opening of MK in December the train opened the park. I don't know how you get to ride that train.

The opening ceremony is done every morning EXCEPT EMH mornings.

The family is chosen totally at random, from the people waiting to get in that morning. There is no way to arrange it in advance.

don't forget to take the train right away to the back of the park. if you're lucky you might just get to sit next to some of the characters on the trip. plus you'll beat the crowds walking up main street.
