I have a few questions about SSR, some may pertain to any of the DVC properties so feel free to jump in ;)

I'm understanding that there is no housekeeping unless you pay an additional fee, is this correct? If so, how do you get clean towels?

Do the studio rooms have toasters?

Do all of the rooms/suites open to outside corridors? Is there security around the premises, especially at night?

Thanks for any help, and feel free to add anymore info if you'd like to :teeth:

Yes, there is limited housekeeping services for DVC stays (on points). If your stay is 7 nights or less, you will get Trash & Towel service on Day 4 (Day 1 is the day you check in). For a T&T service, housekeeping will empty your trash and exchange your used towels for fresh towels. If you stay at least 8 nights, you get full housekeeping service (change sheets, clean bathrooms, vacuum, etc.) on Day 4 and Trash & Towel service on Day 8. The cycle repeats if you stay long enough.

If you want more towels, you can pay $6 for an extra set. (4 bath, 4 hand, 4 wash cloths and a bath mat make up the set). If you want clean towels in between housekeeping services, you can wash them yourself. The larger units (1 bedroom and up) have a washer & dryer right in the unit and there are complimentary laundry rooms for those who stay in the studios.

Yes, they do.

Can't help with this one as I am not an SSR owner and have not yet visited that resort.

You're welcome. :)

Best wishes -

I believe Old Key West and Saratoga are the only ones that open to the outside. Boardwalk, Beach club and Wilderness lodge have interior corridors. Security is wonderful. I feel very protected there.

The corridors are open, but we felt pretty secure....my cousin is a CM and came to see us one night at about 10 pm. Security would not let her through, even with her Disney CM ID until they called our room and verified with me that we were expecting her. We REALLY liked that. Walking around the property at night, we always felt safe and the outside corridors are VERY well lit.

If you stay at a DVC property by paying cash, you get housekeeping every day like at any other resort. But if you own, or rent points, you get the limited housekeeping. We stay in a 2BR, which has the washer and dryer, so we figure we just throw the towels in the washer in the morning when we go out, put them in the dryer on our mid-afternoon break and Voila...clean towels for morning.

I have a question, since I have never stayed as an owner until now (woohoo!!). If we have 7 people, do we get 2 towel packs on check-in? This wasn't clear to me. Thanks!!

This was our hallway at SSR in the Congress Park section. Some of the hallways have open "cutouts", like large windows, on the outside walls.
I thouhgt they were pretty secure.

The number of towels is based on the size of the villa, not the number of people. So if you reserve a 1 BR you will get towels for 4 people. If you reserve a 2BR, you will get towels for 8 people.

KLEONARD, with that photo I almost feel like I'm there!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Feel free to post anymore photos you might have. ;)

Glad to be able to post again today, yesterday those tech difficulties were very frustrating especially after I made my SSR ressies and I just want to post away!

The CM I spoke with said that if you are renting points or are staying through DVC then housekeeping is limited. If you stay via WDW room resservations/pkgs then you would receive daily housekeeping. I had reserved through the special FL resident/AP rate summer rate. (I really was just concerned about the towel issue, but not a concern now).

I booked a studio which is fine for us. I requested Congress Park since it's closest to DTD, but any section should be fine as we will have the car when we need it. Glad to hear about the tight security too!

We're not doing any DIS parks, but will be going to Seaworld, otherwise we'll be hanging out by the pool, may play some mini golf and we'll be chowing at our fav Dis resort restaruants!! Thanks for the info everyone!!

OH and one or 2 more questions?? Is there internet access in the rooms or on property anywhere? Is there a freezer section in the mini frig?? Thanks!

Since your reservation was not made using DVC points, you will have daily housekeeping service and will get clean towels daily. (DVC reservations have the every-4-day schedule.)

There is a broadband internet connection in all of the villas (cost is $9.95 per 24 hour period) and dialup is also available for the price of a local phone call ($0.75 per call for non-members - but make certain it is a local phine number or long-distance surcharegs will apply.)

The mini-fridge does have a small freezer section, but don't count on fitting too much in there.

Here are a few more SSR photos.

Enjoy your stay!

Thanks for the photos WebmasterDoc, just can't get enough of those!! The more photos I see the more I just can't wait to go!!

I figured the freezer would be teeny, just looking to maybe fit a small flexible cooler pack in there.

As far as the internet goes, if I use dial up won't I be charged for the minutes I use even if it's a local call?

Thanks so much!!
