I was just talking to member services, and the guy I was talking to spent a couple days at SSR to test it out. He gave me some info that you can only get from someone who spent some time there.

First off, he said that he isn't the kind of person who is easilly impressed, but he really was blown away by SSR. They really did a nice job.

He said that all the buildings were one room deep, doors on one side, windows on the other. He desribed the layout as OKW with elevators, but larger.

The rooms do not all directly face the water, some of them are courtyard view, but all of the rooms are on the water side of the building.

He felt that the two buildings that face the quiet pool would be the most requested becuse they face PI directly.

He said the slide on the pool was much faster than he expected. I asked if it was long and he said, not really, but it is fast.

Around the main pool area are waterfalls. These waterfalls make the pool area much quieter than you would expect because of the sound of the running water.

He said that at night they sat around the quiet pool and listened to the music from Pleasure Island. He said it was really nice to sit outside and take it all in without having to be where all the action is.

With his mention of DTD noise I asked if he could hear the music from the rooms and he said that he couldn't hear a thing. It wasn't until you were outside that you could hear the DTD noise, but it wasn't overpowering. This was good to hear.

He was very enthusiastic, and after talking to him, I am more excited than ever to go down next week!

Thanks for sharing that! I am going in August and cant wait to see it all for myself. I have not heard a negative thing yet about it and hope not to! Thanks again!

Thanks!

You've answered the biggest question I had and that was whether the doors opened to the outside or to an indoor hallway. You can't tell from any of the "public" vantage points.

Thanks -- I had not anticipated the "one room deep" design; that is nice!

Thanks for sharing all this. Good to know about the buildings facing P.I.

Another awesome report!

Thanks for the info! I'm looking forward to seeing it and hearing more reports from guests! :)

One room deep = sweet! Thanks for the news!

I am going to try what he suggested -- just sitting by the quiet pool with a bit of wine, listening to the happy music, waiting for the fireworks. That sounds perfect right about now . . .

Wow.

Thanks for the info! It keeps sounding better and better. Hmm, I'll have to remember in the future to ask anyone I talk to in MS if they've stayed at SSR yet, and what their impressions were...it's nice to hear people talk about it! (especially when it's positive information!!!!) :teeth:

SSR is very nice but I think describing it as being like OKW but with elevators is a little misleading. On the back side there is basically an 'outside' hallway. The buildings have one main entrance and smaller 'end' entrances. On the backside you go through these 'hallways' to get to your room. OKW on the other hand has a number of entrances to the villas in each building. At OKW, there is generally one main pathway that breaks up into multiple entrances, where only a few units share an entrance.

One real nice thing about SSR is that the 2-story grand villas have entrances at each level. So when taking luggage to the top bedrooms you can get into them from an outside entrance and not have to take your luggage into the main living room entrance and then go up the unit's inside stairwell.

Thanks for the info. I cant wait for our trip in July there. I was wondering about the music from PI also. Thanks for letting us all know.

Thanks VanHouten for the report. Can't wait to see the place myself in a few weeks!
