More specific about 'WELCOME HOMES'

We heard it on our first and only trip so far. I was standing in awe looking up at the Christmas tree at the Wilderness Lodge while my DW was checking us in. Right as the CM was finishing us up I heard her say Welcome Home. I got so excited, it was our first one. I enjoyed hearing that!!

hmmmmmm.....I beginning to become worried about you guys. ....I have been thinking lately about what job at disney I want when I retire, and hopefully by then the guy with the captain suit at BC will be gone so I can have his job, if not i guess tour guide at the land will have to do.

I love to hear it. One of the guards at Wilderness Lodge always says it and if he is not on duty I miss his words and his crisp salute.

I agree with Granny - a nice genuine "welcome home" is great. A canned "I have to say welcome home" greeting just doesn't do it for me.

The room is what says welcome home to me and as long as it is clean and everything works great I'm a happy camper.

I loved it the first time I heard it on my most recent trip

My 3 1/2 year old DS thought it was pretty funny and kept referring to OKW as "home" as in "Daddy, when are we going back home for the day...."

I love hearing 'Welcome Home' and missed it when we stayed at BWV in March. I have heard it more often at OKW. Is that because OKW is just DVC and BW has the hotel rooms as well?
In March we even got a Welcome Home at the security gate when we drove over for lunch at Olivia's and showed our BWV DVC parking pass!
Keep that 'Welcome Home' coming!

I love hearing a cheery "Welcome Home!" when I arrive. I think I deserve something besides my points for the investment I made, and I don't think asking the CMs to say "Welcome Home" is asking for too much. Although if they wanted to forego the greeting in favor of a spa treatment or dinner in a nice restaurant, I guess I could go for that, too.

Until I told them I was upset that I didn't get one. I think everyone is right , OKW is the DVC resort that everyone that works there thinks about the "welcome home" more than anywhere else. I'm at BWV right now and only once heard it when I told them about it.
I'm still happy about my purchase, Wonder why I didn't do it before...

Ahhhh..... much better and more realistic poll. It doesn't ruin my trip without it, but I prefer hearing it. Thanks Maistre Gracey. It also looks like I already voted in this one. It's all in how you word the question, isn't it. The results are pretty overwhelming compared to the other poll, aren't they.

I actually was thinking about this poll yesterday when looking at the wording of the other poll. And then when I saw this, I thought that Maistre Gracey had posted the "other poll" once again. I was surprised to find that it was the original "counter poll".

This is an important lesson to those who put a lot of stock in polls. You can pretty much make them say what you want by how you word them!

Thanx Granny, and Captain. When I made this poll, I was considering a third category of "absolutely ZERO preference". I opted not to include that, as this way it pushes members to say their preference. If they had "absolutely ZERO preference", they could opt not to vote in the poll.

Being a VWL and BWV owner, I realize there are a lot of guests at these resorts that are not members. Unlike the dedicated DVC resorts, I'm sure it's hard for the CM to keep up with whom to say "Welcome Home!" vs "Welcome!"

I think that all CM's should make sure they say it at all DVC resorts. It sounds like OKW always gets a welcome home whereas BCV or BWV is hit or miss. I'm looking forward to my first welcome home...to me it's just one more special touch that makes DVC a magical program.

Hi, Tim. I certainly understand what you are saying, but that was sort of the intent of the poll. I was looking to see if you would rather hear it, or rather not hear it. I would guess that "Nice to have, but wouldn't get bent out of shape without it.", would fall into the 'rather hear it'.

I've yet to hear my first "Welcome Home" but I can't wait! However, it will definitely not make or break the vacation.
