I've been having more spam problems the last two days.
It shows I have a message and then it goes to this page.
I sent an email to the administrator image.jpgimage.jpg

Yep. It's an advertisement designed to look like you have a message. Disboard's message indicator doesn't look like that. It's made to look like Facebook's, but it's showing up when viewing Disboards. Just ignore it.

I haven't seen that one. On ads there's generally a way to click x and describe why it should be removed. I do it often on the Russian wife ads.

Yes agree top right there is an ' X' in a box click it and report it as inappropriate and it should go. This is an advert and nothing to do with these boards but more to do with the browsers advertising.

Advertising. Are you new to the Internet? It can be very devious when on other sites. Never click to open. Many can contain viruses and link to sites that can cause malware issues.

That's why this could potentially be bad and why I posted about it. This shows up like any message would on your account. You can't tell who it's from until you open it.

What you need to do is note on your phone, or Ipad where Adverts come up on certain websites, Then as you see it ignore it, or use some-kind of ad blocker or internet security firewall.

This is an advert, yes it is designed by the advertiser to lure you in and therefore they are the lowest of the low to try to deceive you. Its designed that way, but its an Ad and not this forums fault or responsibility.

You can click on the top right X and report it as spam to your IP.

It's from no one. I'm sorry you are not used to this. They really don't have a way to choose advertising on the website. Sometimes. It is much needed and becomes a lesson learned as part of being on the Internet. You may think you have a message. It clearly looks like a cutout from Facebook page or something. Not from these boards.

But it is not a disboard message. You can see from your picture that it is below disboard stuff and actually looks like Facebook. It was simple advertisement and not spam, sorry

Okay, I guess I am confused. This is an ad supported board, so while not a disboard message, it may very well be a disboard ad that allows us to use their forum for free. OP, let us know if you hear back from an Administrator, and what they say.

It's not, I have posted above I have seen the same Ad on other sites forums, or just websites, Dis allows Ad slots on pages these are automatically filled by there IP or Google, and Dis has no choice what's seen, often actually it's our searching and interests that generate the type of Ads seen, so actually we may all be seeing Ads. The only way to deal with it is to click X on the top right if the ad and report it as inappropriate, then you will stop seeing it.

Actually, it only LOOKS like you have a message. Slightly above that is your Username Inbox Alerts and that's where you'll receive notifications of new messages. A little red number will appear next to the word "Inbox" if you have a new private message (or "conversation"). That is the official notation. Similarly, if you have new "Alerts" it shows in the same manner, with a small red square with a number next to the word Alerts. What you show in the picture is an ad and does NOT indicate a message for you on the DISboards.

There was a similar ad appearing back in February right after the software change-over, the Webmasters did eventually get it blocked but it's a Google issue not one directly controlled by the DISboards.

I think it's good the op mentioned it. Even the most savvy of us can get fooled. Spam or ad, can still mess up our computers. Great to have the heads up AND to report it the correct way.

Very true! I mainly wanted to point out the correct place where notifications will show for the DISboards.

Disney Fantasy thanks for the info about X out of the ad. I never noticed I could do that.
I now see that it was not part of the Disboards message but was an ad below that. But when looking on my phone and my "old lady" eyes it was hard to see the difference. I'm sure it was made to look that way so people will click on it.

Yes, those ads run elsewhere. But the $$$ goes to the owners of the DISBOARDS for the ones we see here.
