Did you happen to notice over on the DVC board, there is a huge uproar that the studios will no longer have real glasses or ceramic mugs to drink with OR have dishwashing liquid at the sink. They are putting STYROFOAM cups in the cupboard instead! Nothing to wash anything out with and you're expected to reuse your 8 cups for your weeks stay? It is ridiculous. I am glad i sold off 3/4 of my membership, especially since they've also made us pay a $95 for using points at the fort too!
I am so glad i don't have to worry about using flimsy cups or wonder whether things have been cleaned by mousekeeping. My only worry is affording the gas to get there, lol.:goodvibes

my girlfriend said she would only buy into DVC if they had it for fort wilderness. It's the only place I like staying at, but I would love to have a chance for a night at Wilderness Lodge. It's just so pretty there.

Actually, the $95 for staying at the Fort on DVC points is going away. Not sure if it's published or started yet, but the source of the information is VERY reliable.

That would be great!!! I'm ready to sell my points because of the $95 and the fact that there are only a few sites that are availabel to DVC and we can never get a ressie through DVC.

Back in 2005 we stayed at the Music Resort and they had a booth set up to explore the DVC option, they had SS ( sarasoto springs ? ) at 11,500.00 and we seriously thought about it.

Instead we sunk our money into a nicer tt and I'm so glad we did because now I don't have a reliable pet sitter so we would be stuck. I would much rather drink out of a plastic cup anyday than a glass when it comes to a hotel.

I've never heard that before. We are DVC members and used points two years ago but not this trip because they posted the points chart so late. Why would there only be "X" number of sites for DVC members to use? We are not limited on the Cruise Line or other Disney Resorts. :confused3

That's what we were told while we were online trying to make a cash ressie and a little instant message window popup up letting us chat with a person from reservations and DW asked them why there was always sites available for cash but the same dates were not available for DVC.

I think that was a misinformed CM. I've never had trouble the past couple of years getting my preferred site using points. Actually for this year, the points went DOWN. I thought that was because of the new fee. I am hoping the post is correct about the fee going away.

I really do enjoy the DVC resorts and have a couple weeks this year in them as well as driving down in our RV. They seem to be chiseling away the perks but i still can't bring myself to sell my entire interest. I would miss the $100 off APs. We are staying at Wilderness Lodge Villas in May and at Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas in June. I'll have to put up with the styrofoam cups i guess!

Do you think this would be JUST for using points at the fort or is it also the disney collection hotels as well? i would be one happy camper if it's true! no pun intended! :goodvibes

I am a new DVC member through resale. I was going to add on a significant amount of points, but then the $95 rule appeared. I complained to member services and had a very long phone call with a very nice CM. He addressed all my concerns (difficulty in getting through to member services, $95 fee, and reduced number of properties in Concierge Collection). He thought the $95 was here to stay...if not, I think I might wipe out my savings account for DVC points to be used at FtW! clkelley - can you PM me with more information about your source and their info?

they did post the collection charts late this year but don't let that stop you. Call MS and ask because they had them long before they were posted. i used the 2007 charts and couldn't figure out why i was being charged LESS points and i was told they went down for 2008 for the fort. Actually, it IS cheaper to pay the cash, considering what you could rent your points for. Although renting can be such a hassle.
