Hi again...
okay you guys convinced me NOT to miss this great restaurant soooooooooooo here are a few more questions:

1. I have 2 older kids who will not be satisfied with a kids meal...I have heard they serve decent sized portions but how decent? If my 2 older ones split a meal would they be full? DO they split it in the kitchen so my 12 yr old daughter does not 'die' of embarrassment?

2. What is your favorite meal there? Does anything on the menu REALLY stand out as a 'must'?

3. Do you prefer lunch or dinner? Does it make a difference at all besides price?

TIA for all of your help!

My oldest DD is 13 and even the kids meals usually are enough for her. Or sometimes she will only order something like the cheese fries(Plenty for her) for her main item and then get a big dessert. We have never split a meal but I am sure if you ask politely they would try to split the meal in the kitchen. They are usually very accomodating. My all time favs are the meatloaf, the post roast and the fried chicken. But everything I have ever tasted from there(little snitches from DH's plate) has been wonderful. We have only eaten there for lunch so I am not sure about the differences between lunch and dinner. Usually the portions are larger for dinner(my exerience at other restaurants). I hope you enjoy this place as much as my family does!!!!!!!;) Oh yeah, try the shakes and sundaes!!!!!!!! Delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to Prime Time for lunch and found the regular meals plentyful. I'm sure they would split the meal in the kitchen if you requested.

My DS loves this place!

DD and I always split the chicken plate. They split it in the kitchen without asking.

Does anyone have a link to Prim time menus? Where exactly is it located.

The kids meals are really not that large... my DD is 9 and not a huge eater, and she ends up eating from our plate when she is done, and has plenty of room for dessert. I think, depending on what you order that an adult meal split between the 2 would be enough, especially if you are planning on dessert (I highly recommend the milkshakes and the S'Mores. Yes, they will split the meal in the kitchen, so no one will ever really know they are sharing, except whomever is at your table, and the server... so no embarrassed adolescents!

My favorite meal is by far the pot roast (get the green beans instead of the carrotts, though). My husband's is the meatloaf, and my Dad loved the fried chicken (this one is great for splitting, as it is easily enough for 2).

I think that the dinner portions are a bit larger than the lunch, and of course more expensive, but that is really the only difference. I haven't noticed any difference in service or "show" between the 2. I hope that you have a wonderful time there, and it becomes one of your family's favorites as it has become ours!

i would think 2 kids would be fine splitting an entree. the portions are pretty large.

i just posted this on another thread, but my favorite thing at ptc is the pb+j milkshake. it's yummy! :teeth:

From experience, they'll split an entree. But your 12 year old daughter is probably gonna die of embarassment anyway. Good natured public humiliation is the name of the game, but that's what makes it fun. It's a blast, and our experiences in food quality there have been just fine. I lean toward the pot roast.

As an example of the attentive service, my DD daughter received the wrong entree last time we were there. They corrected the mistake, but brought her a big ol' green salad in the meantime, and didn't charge us for ANY of it.

If your kids are still hungry, pour a milkshake down 'em. That PB & J shake tastes kind of like a Reece cup. Glorious.

I have only been there once for dinner and had the fried chicken, it was delicious, they gave me 3 huge pieces of chicken and I forget what else was on my plate, mashed potatoes and a veggie I think. It was a good old fashioned "mom's in the kitchen" dinner. I have not been able to find any meal that compares to this one anywhere else. I couldnt finish it and ended up taking some chicken home with me. My kids 9 and 11 had kids meals and they both cleaned their plates and then had dessert. My youngest DD had the smores and they were excellent. This restaurant is definately on my list of favorites and I will go back to prime time every time Im at WDW. You and your family are going to have a blast. Have Fun.

We loved 50's Prime Time and are going back in August. I had the meatloaf and the portion was really large. It was also really, really delicious.

Can't remember what DH had, but I'm sure DD had the kids chicken fingers. It's about all she eats at WDW - and she's not even considered a kid anymore.

I do remember that DH and DD both cleaned their plates and got a "Clean Plate Club" sticker. I, on the other hand, got scolded for not finishing everything before ordering dessert.:p

I've eaten at 50's PT many times. WE always get TOO MUCH food! My daughters (4 and 8) will order from the kids menu and it's plenty. My son (11) will order from the regular menu and it's always too much. The pot roast is great. The meat loaf is great. The fried chicken is great. Once I was not that hungry and I ordered chicken noodle soup and it was great! I guess we're different from others here on the boards....we HATED the green beans. I was so worried the waiter was going to do the "airplane" and force someone to eat the green beans. The father of the family next to us gathered up all the green beans in a napkin and took them to the men's room to throw away. He said the trash can was full of them.

Most of the time our waiter is funny and quirky. And we laugh along with him. But once we had a waiter that made my husband so ANGRY! It was late (after 10pm) and we were tired and hungry,. We were not in the mood. And this guy would not let up. I kept trying to give him the "give us a break tonight" look but to no avail.

We're not a "order dessert" family. I know, weird. Still, we eat a lot at Disney.

I have to say this is my favorite place at WDW. Me and DD were there a few weeks ago and she got the hotdog and fries. It was actually a good size and she ate about half the dog (she's only 2). My sandwich (turkey) was huge and you got plenty of chips with it. Add a chocolate shake on top of that and we were full. If your kids are the shy type a suttle explanation or whisper to the waiter is all thats needed. My DS is autistic and has no sense of humor so alot will go right over his head, I let the waiter know and he was wonderful (plus made sure we got our lunch fast!)

Make sure you leave a hat on or even put your elbows on the table.

I just love being scolded by Mom ;) .

We ate here for the first time last month and it is now one of our "must do's"! We had lunch and the food was wonderful--I had the chicken pot pie and DH had the BBQ chicken sandwich and it was HUGE. DD10 ate all of her meatloaf and got the "here comes the choo choo" treatment for not finishing her green beans. DD3 only eats chicken fingers no matter where we are. Cousin Christopher was a riot:p Unfortunately we were way too full to try the PB&J shake--just a great excuse to go back next visit:D

So can I mention my 3 year olds very shyness as we're being seated and we'll be all set??

The rest of us would like this treatment but not my 3 year old (just turned 4 by then) would not appreciate it although I'll bet she'd get a kick out of someone scolding her daddy!

Can't wait to try it!

Our DD3 is pretty shy too - I think the CM's can really tell who to pick on and who to leave alone. Cousin Christopher said a couple of things to her and when he didn't get much of a response he left her alone. Have a great time!!
