I recently asked about our options on a reservation we have booked for arrival within 30 days. I know that these points are now in holding status if we cancel the reservation. However we have found someone who may be willing to rent it from us but they can only use 4 nights of the week we have booked. What I need to know is can I cancel the other 3 nights or is that not allowed since the points are in holding? I do know that the pts leftover will definitely go to holding status just wondering if I can alter the existing reservation by cancelling those other 3 nights. Thanks

Yes, you can cancel the other 3 nights - I assume they are either the 1st three nights of the reservation or the last 3 nights. As you know, the points that are returned to your account would be returned in holding status, but at least the points for the other nights would be used and provide you with some compensation.

If you cancel the reservation you will have points with special rules (holding points), you will no longer have a reservation. If someone wants to rent part of the reservation, do not cancel the reservation. First call to modify the length of the reservation, then change the names on the reservation. The nights you cancel will yield points that will then be considered holding points, with special rules.

Thanks Carol and Jean. That's exactly what I needed to know. :)
