About 2 wks ago, we learned my 75 yr old active dad has prostate cancer. Well today, he went in for a colonoscopy. They found a small growth & removed it. It wasn't anything.
HOWEVER, they found a large growth further up, that they can't remove & it needs to be removed to prevent blockage. They didn't release him; and instead admitted him to the hospital to have a section of his colon removed tomorrow. This was a shock to my parents. My mom is home & crying. My dad's in the hospital. And I live 2 hours away. Luckily, my brother has been doing some work in the area closer to them, & has been sleeping at their house. But my brother is NOT the comforting type.
Please pray for my dad during surgery tomorrow. Mom says he won't have to use a bag -- and they should be able to just remove a section of colon & re-attach. I'm really bad with understanding medical stuff or how things work. So, I'll take her word on this. He won't be able to lift for weeks. And we are praying they don't find anything else OR that it turns out to be colon cancer too.
Also, some what connected, but less important really at this point. My dad owns a charter sportsfishing/ private lobster boat. Its been for sale for 3 yrs. His ONLY thoughts right now are getting the boat ready to get in the water so he can make money this summer AND to sell it.
A commercial sized vessel is alot of work for anyone...let alone a 75 yr old man. I pray that he sees that he doesn't HAVE to work so hard...and just tries to sell the boat while its still out of the water. I hate to see him try to do this kind of work while recovery from colon surgery & undergoing prostate cancer treatment.
Thank you for any prayers.
