I found this on wdwmagic. It was published in the WDW CM newspaper, Eyes and Ears:

Speeding remains a significant problem on Walt Disney World Resort property and impacts the safety of our Cast Members and Guests. During the past year, Florida Highway Patrol has had an increased presence to help reduce the number of Cast Members, Guests and others who speed while traveling on our property. In addition, the cities of Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista, which provide municipal services to the Walt Disney World Resort, have recently signed a services agreement with the Orange County Sheriff's Office to provide an increased law enforcement presence, including traffic enforcement 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Florida Highway Patrol has issued almost 1,000 citations on our property, some as much as $540. For most of us, this would be a huge financial burden. Unfortunately, Cast Members continue to constitute the majority of citations that have been written. A combined speed-control effort -- a partnership between the Orange County Sheriff's Office and Florida Highway Patrol -- will be ongoing. I strongly encourage voluntary compliance of posted speed limits.

In future Eyes & Ears issues, you will see information about the physical and financial risks of speeding. Some of these risks include harm to yourself and others, premium increases in your car insurance and points against your driving record.

The Walt Disney World Resort has more people in a concentrated area than downtown Orlando. Because of this, the risk of accidents is greater, and speeding increases this risk factor. Please pay attention to and comply with posted speed limits. Voluntary compliance of posted speed limits helps create a safe environment for all who work and play at the Walt Disney World Resort, and in turn, enhances the Cast and Guest experience.

Thank you.

They are shooting their new movie down in Louisana right now. It will be out this summer. Willie Nelson is playing Uncle Jesse and Burt Reynolds is Boss Hogg.

I guess that everyone wants in on the "Lights, Motors, Action!" Extreme Stunt Show. Why should CMs be any exception! Vrooooooom! :moped:

Because of the travel time from the parking areas to the actual work location I imagine several CM's are constantly running late and hitting the gas pedal to try and buy some time.

I noticed during our last visit that the areas around park entrances were horrible with cars trying to cross over several lanes at once trying to exit because they were lost or didn't read the signs correctly. I hope there is some type of crack-down on this as well as speeding.

If you asked my grandmother-in-law, she'd say that the bus drivers in WDW transportation should all be arrested for speeding and reckless driving.

True scenario (and not just once):

We're ...just... late to get a bus to the MK (we're at POR). We wait 15 minutes and now we're behind schedule.

Our entourage of 15 piles in.

The awfully friendly driver says "Nex' 'top, de Magic Kingdaum."

We race off :moped: , to the children's delight and my DGMiL's horror.

She immediately jerk-grabs at a leaning rail, or my knee.

She says in shock (for the thousandth time in her life), "I know there's a speed limit in this place." :sad2:

We careen around corners and almost take out the security booth between Bonnet Creek Golf and Fort Wilderness. Everyone else on the bus is abuzz with excitement. DGMiL is hyperventilating  and mumbling to no one in particular about the CDL certification system in Florida. :scared:

We arrive at the park and get out. :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

A friendly ticket taker at the turnstiles asks us, "How is your morning?"
and my DGMiL's reply, "We d@*n near died!"

Beautiful....just like clockwork. :rotfl2:

oh how funny!!!

:rotfl:

I am laughing so hard....thanks I needed that.

I speed only because everyone else is and I don't want to get hit....

I would like to go the speed limit - it is a beautiful area and there is so much to look at....

you DGIL - would appreciate one of the lady bus drivers - she came and got us from DD to OKW - I think she went 5 to 10 mph the entire way - you know the bus goes by TL on the way to OKW - and I mean some people were walking faster than this bus was going....

I was on a bus where a woman kept yelling at the Bus Driver to SLOW DOWN! However, he was going the speed limit and I thought if he slowed down too much one of those idiots was going to rear end us.

(And by the way, PULL OVER to take the photo of the entrances don't just STOP and jump out of the car!)
