More Expensive Offsite?!

I was really considering staying offsite for our trip this July. We could get more for our money and a room/suite with 2 tv's-less arguing over which show to watch! Now with the 4/3 promotion it's much less expensive to stay onsite. I'm just shocked that offsite hotels aren't offering something similiar. Anyone know of any? Am I correct or am I missing something?:confused3

We are renting a vaca house and for us it's alot less expensive to stay offsite (even figuring in if free dining is available when we go). I used homeaway.com and found a place really inexpensive.

Comfort Inn Lake Beuna Vista had a $32 deal through Travelzoo. Rodeway Inn had a $29 deal through them too. Condos and town homes can be as low as $69/night. Here is an example: http://www.vrbo.com/101631

I think if you have a small family and can all fit in one room, the 4/3 deal may be a better deal than staying off site. Large families or large groups will probably still do better off site. We stayed in Davenport (15 minutes away from WDW) and paid $925 for a 6 bedroom pool home and that included all taxes, pool heat and fees. We split that three ways with my parents and my in-laws, so the price couldn't be beat.

I just can't believe that offsite hotels don't offer a deal to compete with Disney 4/3! Surely with this economy they could use the additional business.

You must not be looking hard enough. I'm seeing ridiculously cheap rates everywhere.

You're criticism of my "not looking hard enough" is really not at all helpful. I would love for you to give me a few concrete examples.

Are you wanting to stay in a hotel or a house? How much is the room you are wanting at Disney for the week?

Thank you to those of you who did give specific examples. To stay offsite I would want to spend $100 of less a night for a hotel close to Disney parks. Would prefer a hotel suite. Caribe Royale does seem to fit my requirements-is it a good choice? Trip is for me, DH, DD14 and DD9. We spend most of our time in the parks but would still like an attractive hotel and nice pool.

I'm not much help with hotels sorry. If you change your mind you can stay at a home or villa for less than $100 a night. I saw a villa yesterday that had a 2.5 acre pool complex but I can't remember the exact price. I'll try to find it for you today and get back with you. It was on homeaway.com

give us exact dates.

July 4 will be more expensive - it is a holiday.

We're looking to go for a week-probably July 14-21. Definitely not July 4th week. Sometime between the 14th and 28th. We can't travel on the weekend because not available for frequent flier tickets.

For us, renting a car to stay offsite(in a condo) is what makes it the same price as staying onsite at a mod. Rentals are really high for the end of June even with codes.

Have you checked travelocity, orbitz, Hotels.com, etc? You should be able to find lots of special rates out there...it just takes a little work to find. ;)

Try Buena Vista Suites as well as the Caribe Royale. I thought they were like $88 a night.

Have you checked out mousesavers.com?

You could also book through www.hotelkingdom.com or www.bookit.com. Once you see a resort you're interested in, just check it's reivews on tripadvisor.com.

You could also rent a villa. Tons of sites to check including:

www.cyberrentals.com
www.homeaway.com
www.vacationcentralflorida.com (Windsor Hills rentals)

I would also check out some the hotels direct sites like Marriott and Starwood.

These are some of the sites I use when booking and have never paid more than $120 a night including taxes for 2, 3 or even 4 bedroom villas.

Also...if someone in your family is a govt. employee (fed., state, or local) you can try govarm.com or getravelop.com.

And last but not least, check out skyauction.com. (Just watch the fees and make sure that what you are looking at is a good deal.)

Hope these help you out!

Have a great trip.

Try the Orlando vista Hotel. It is right next to Downtown Disney. It is within walking distance to the entrance of Downtown Disney. We stay here when we go and we love it. Here is a link to their site.

They are a Walt Disney World Good Neighbor Hotel.

It might not be helpful, but it's true.

Spend just five minutes with Expedia, and you'll find tons of places. A week in a single Value room is going to run you about $68 a night plus tax under the 7-for-4 promotion. Expedia has more than 60 hotels in the general area for less for your dates. Even if you figure in the cost of parking, there are still several dozen less expensive alternatives.

As someone mentioned, the thing that will tip the balance is if you'd use Magical Express for onsite but would need to rent a car off. In that case, an onsite Value room is going to be hard to beat.

I also I would google Orlando Magic Card for hotels. They have some good deals. I know stay last year for the July 4th weekend at FairField Inn by Marriott for 80.00 a night. I know they have that special going again.
