If we rent DVC for the wedding, and manage to meet the minimum room night requirements, do we still get a free room? And would it be the room we're in, or would we have to check in to another resort for it?

I think I know the answer to my second question, but I'll ask it for confirmation. With DVC I know you can purchase the DDP, but can it still be offered free?

If we rent DVC for the wedding, and manage to meet the minimum room night requirements, do we still get a free room?

Yes, but only if 25 of the nights you guarantee are at resorts in your room block. If people book Disney resorts through other means, like by calling the central reservations line or using a PIN, those rooms will count toward your minimum but not toward your free night. So be sure that DVC resort is in your room block.

And would it be the room we're in, or would we have to check in to another resort for it?

You can have the free room be at the same resort where you are staying. However, there is a possibility you will have to switch rooms. The free night is a separate reservation, so they will have to try to link your two reservations when you check in, and hopefully your room will be available for that extra night.

With DVC I know you can purchase the DDP, but can it still be offered free?

No. Free DDP is offered to get people to buy vacation packages that include the room and park tickets. Room-only and DVC reservations do not qualify.
