I thought we should give more details about ourselves:
We are: John --engineer for Dep of Defense - 46
Donna -Realtor- 53 (an old broad with a little kid that keeps her young!)
Chloe-6 (going into the first grade) She loves the Disney cruise!
Our tenative plans are as follows:
Key West-do on our own; Chloe always wants to stay on ship
Caymens-Holiday Inn Beach via taxi
Cozumel-Mr. Sanchos Beach
Castaway Cay-adult beach
Iwill do one wine tasting and will probably try the spa for the first time and who knows may do some other excusions, etc.
On our first disney cruise (2 weeks after 9/11) we did the Eastern; last year we tried to do the Western but ended up in Puerto Rico and doing Castaway Cay 2 x and St Thomas. It was fine--with a lot of Dis ears on the ship! Everyone was so nice!
We are staying in a veranda room that is one of the partially obstructed ones that has a plexi-glass bottom--it had been a category 5, but was downgraded to a 7. We saw it last year since my girlfriend had this stateroom and loved it; it is 2 floors down from Topsiders.
Oh, we will be staying at the Radison at Port Canaveral the night before and the Dolphin in Disney World the night after and will be renting a car to and from the airport.
We can hardly wait!
:smooth:

we are planning on our second cruise next december for the 10 night. it will be myself and my husband. i am almost over feeling like the "scum mom of the year" for not including our boys. they will be 28 and 23 next year. we are in a category 8 just due to the cost, but stayed category 6 this past may for our 30 th wedding anniversary.:p

Hi Donna! When are you sailing again? We are going 10/11 with members of Cruistoberfest (9/22/01)AND CruisEars(9/28/02)!Hopefully we will make the Western ports this time:p

I know you will have a great time in October; it seems our 8/30 cruise does not have a lot of Dis ears going!
I can hardly wait; am so tired from working; the real estate market is so good here that it keeps me popping all the time.
John goes to the Radisson at the Port for a week next week on business; I am so busy, I am staying home with Chloe--she has a sitter.
What does your disears group have planned? We had such fun last year!
Regards, Donna:cool:

Hi Donna, glad to hear business is good. The market is hot here in Charleston also. I guess the low rates are driving the sales up!
We are doing the same type things this year as last, Palo Brunch (I think we have about 30 Dis'ers for brunch) We have almost 60 of us doing a Scavanger Hunt in Key West. We are calling it "ScavangEAR Hunt"LOL! I think the hunt will be a lot of fun! We will try again for the Capt. Marvins trip in GC and we booked a private company for a scuba/snorkel trip in Cozumel. We also plan on a pre-cruise meet at the Radisson.
I hope you can hook up with more DIS'ers going 8/30:) If not you can always risk the wrath of your familyand change your cruise date to 10/11!LOL!

DisneyQueen...sorry didn't mean to ignore your post. A 10 day is my "DREAM TRIP"! I think 2 weeks might be a bit much, but 7 is not quite long enough. Don't worry about leaving the kids behind. At 28 and 23 I think they are old enough to not need a babysitter:p :p :p
HAVE A GREAT TRIP!

Hi Donna!

I am new to the DIS. My family and I are taking our first Disney Cruise October 16. It will be my mom, dad, brother (15) and myself (29). I am very excited! Not too sure what to expect yet but constantly in planning mode! Hope you have a good time on your cruise! :D

I live in Columbia Maryland.
Any cruisers from MD?
We will probably fly Southwest to MCO; it is a cattle car, but cheap. It is less than a 2 hr flight, thank goodness!
We are only 25 minutes away from the airport; so we just will take a shuttle before.
Have to put the 2 dogs--2 yr old Golden and 8 year old Siberian in a Kennel; we hate to leave them, but there is no room for them on the cruise!
It always amazes me that some people fly in the day of the cruise; we really like flying in the the day before, renting an Avis car and driving it to the Radison at the Port and staying in a suite the night before; it doesn't cost much and it has 2 king beds and 2 tvs; an extra nice room off the bedroom and a shower and jacuzzi; we have always been able to see the ships from the hotel too.
We stayed at the Swan last year (the Sat night after the cruise); this year we are staying at the Dolphin since we are getting a great gov't rate; Chloe loved the pools there. It is so hard to kiss the vacation goodbye when you disembark. One extra day is so great. This time we will rent a car from Avis again when we disembark and keep it until we return to the airport Sunday; it will be cheaper and more convenient. (than taking the Disney shuttle and a cab to the airport)
Anyone else going the August 30th let us know?. We have another thread as well; join the group of Aug 30th cruisers.
