I just read that as of July 16, you will not be able to make ADRs 180 days in advance except for CM, CRT, and V&A. It looks like they may be changing back to 90 days for all other restaurants.

Hi,

If this is true, will the ADR's made prior to July 16th still be honored? Have done all mine for Oct.

Thanks Nancy in CT

Who knows that might turn out to be a good thing. I think in my opinion they should hold a CC to your ress. So then maybe people wouldn't over book and it would free up ress for other people. Or if they not going to that dinner they would have no choice to cancle then give somebody else the choice to go.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been wanting this for so long.

It sounds that July 16th is the 180 day mark for January dates. So you will be fine.

Here's the excerpt for anyone not wanting to read the link, hope it's okay to post it??? ...

But the biggie appears to foreshadow a major policy change. As of July 16, you will not be able to make any Advance Dining Reservations (ADRs) for any dates past January 15, 2009. ADRs needed for January 16, 2009 or later will not be able to be booked until October 15.

There are 3 exceptions: Chef Mickey's, Cinderella's Royal Table, and Victoria and Albert's.

It looks like Disney is preparing to move the reservations window from 180 days back to 90 days, with the exception of the three most-in-demand. While the days of walk-up, same-day reservations everywhere are probably gone forever, it'll be nice not to have to worry about what you want to eat half a year in advance.

I guess this is great for the last minute vacations. . . but - we are DVC and have to book early anyway. . . I sure will miss my early planning!

It's still not official, so hold on. :)

I kind of think it is a good idea. I love to plan early, but sometimes it can be frustrating. I mean at 180 days park hours aren't posted, you don't know your EMH, you may not have your flight info yet and so on. When 7 of us went a couple years back, it was so hard to nail everyone done to book ADRs that far out. Plus as a person who doesn't stay onsite all the time, I'm glad offsite and onsite guests will have the same opportunities for ADRs. IMHO

Offsite guests have the same ability to book at 180days - just not for the next 9 days of their vacation if they call right at 180. Even if the change goes to 90 days, on site guests may still have the +10 option.

I haven't stayed offsite in a while....did it use to be 90 days for offsite guests???:confused3 Don't know why I thought that.

No clue, the only time I've ever stayed offsite was my senior trip.

Why is this good news? -confused-

I can't speak for anyone else, but for us locals, planning where we might like to have dinner 6 months in advance is challenging at best! I frequently plan day-trips 3 months out or less and have a hard time getting ADRs when they've been booking for 3 months prior.

I am a compulsive planner, so I don't mind the 180 days. However, I can see that a lot of people will prefer the 90 because it is closer to trip time. I do think it could possibly mean more competition for reservations at the 90 mark because more people will have plans made at that point.

I read on another site that the 180 mark would be phased back in after they completed the switch to a new reservation system. So, I guess stay tuned for the official word.
