More body scanner controversy....

Nice. The whole situation is bizarre. I'll just keep on driving if I want to go.

Our fright first airport screening system is a joke and does not make us safer. I fly monthly and take liquids/gels 6+ oz through every time I fly. I've never been stop/caught.

Add to this all the recent "red team" failures . . . a longstanding TSA problem. It was interesting, on the network news they blamed it on the "mind numbingness" of the job and the low pay.

Former TSA officer gets probation for thefts

A former Transportation Security Administration officer was sentenced Thursday to three years' probation for stealing electronics from airline passengers he screened at Philadelphia International Airport, authorities said.
Troy Davis, 37, of Willingboro, confessed to stealing five laptop computers and a PlayStation game in March 2009 after a baggage handler for American Airlines spotted him hiding the stolen equipment behind an explosive-detection machine. Davis pleaded guilty in October 2009 to theft from interstate or foreign shipments by carrier and theft by a government employee.

They aren't totally ineffective. Even suicide bombers have a limit to the level of humiliation and abuse that they can handle. I think the next security step is to require all passengers to crawl through security on all fours while squealing like a pig.
