About a month ago, I put myself on a waitlist with a DVC salesperson for add-ons to BWV. She had told me that
Disney was buying back many more points, so often had some to offer.
Well, this afternoon my salesperson called and said that DVC was
selling off/ moving the BWV samples (to Saratoga Springs) and the points for those units would be sold. The first persons being called were those on the waitlist, then the DVC members would be offered add-ons, finally going out to the general public. She said that this was announced at a DVC sales meeting this morning.
The sale opens this Sunday. They are selling in increments of 25 points at $84 point. However, if you want 100 points, and are willing to "sell back" until your 2004 use year, they will sell 100 points and up at $74. There are no closing costs, and they will finance.
Let's see what else...
Points will be available for the 2003 use year, which for me dates back to March. I asked if I already borrowed into 2004, would I be able to put any new points toward my existing reservations this year, and put the borrowed points back into 2004.
She said yes, she can do that.
:bounce:
I think that's it. I want 100 more, but who knows what I can talk DH into!!!!!!! :)
GOOD LUCK!

I am on a wait list too. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Any idea how many points will be up for sale? Sounds like if they are opening to the public there must be enough to go around.
Thanks for sharing. I guess I better be thinking of how many just in case I get the phone call.

Never having been there for the tour or anything, I have to ask...

How many sample units are there at the BWV? I guess we could then see how many points are required to reserve those rooms for a year to estimate the number of points made available.

I have been holding on to the paperwork for my sale. I am wondering how this would affect me. I am considering calling to inquire about rewriting the contract with this new rate.

So does that mean there will now be "ground-level" Boardwalk-view units?

I was always kind of hoping they'd add another restaurant/shop/club in that space. But I guess, if DVD owned thoses spaces, that wasn't going to happen, anyway...

They did have some rooms which were located further into the resort, but were set up with the WL theme. I wonder if these are the units the are referring to? I just can't imagine that they would sell the ones located right next to the DVC Sales Center.

MickeyCrazed.. I beleive what the OP is saying is that they are moving the DVC sales center to SSR. So, all the sales offices and models will be turned into to rooms.

When you did the tour, weren't the room models were actually facing the pool? My guess is these are the extra rooms. I don't think they would put rooms on the ground floor facing the Boardwalk.

Were the sales offices on the side beside the canal? That red building? If they tore that down, could they put rooms on the first floor there?

The boardwalk sales office was right on the boardwalk and the model rooms were in the back potion of the sales office which would be facing the main pool. Part of the rooms in that back portion, which could be DVC rooms, were used for office space rather than model rooms of which there were only 2 to 3. The question is whether they will make that front part of the sales office on the boardwalk into rooms or turn it into a store. My guess is that portion will be used for some kind of store although the thought of having a room right on the boardwalk and being able to walk right out of your room onto the boardwalk is quite appealing.

Can you imagine the demand for those rooms?!?

Will this sale be open to only BWV contract holders, or can us BCV owners get in on it too?

I would love to pick up some BWV points to get access to those standard view point rates!!

Thanks!

Sheryl

Yesterday my guide called me with this news. She said they were calling current BW owners and at the end of the month, it would be opened up to everyone. She didn't say how many points were available. She said the sales offices/display units would be converted to DVC inventory, much like they did several years back at OKW when they tore down Commodore House, the original DVC sales office and added the new buildings.

WAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

I want to sell my BCV points back and buy at BWV. The Boardwalk is totally my favorite place at WDW :D :D

Are they only calling Boardwalk owners who are on the add-on list, or are they calling all Boardwalk owners?

Thanks!

Erika

I have not toured the DVC resorts. I am scheduled to do it later next month.

Based on the information on this board, however, I am leaning towards buying at the Boardwalk Villas. I had assumed I would need to buy a resale. After reading this thread I decided to call DVC direct.

I just called DVC and they told me they were not selling any points to people who currently do not own at Boardwalk. They also told me that:
i t is sold out;
it was almost impossible to buy at the Boardwalk from a broker because they buy back all the points and the only place I could buy in Disney was the Beach Club;
the pool was better at Beach Club

The man further said that "buying on the internet is taking a big chance".

I don't believe all he said but I am now concerned about buying anything at Disney.

I mean what if I decide to sell a few years from now, is the CS going to make it difficult for me to resell by bashing all sold out resorts and any efforts to buy into them?

All I really wanted was a good explanation of the "use year". and whether there was any hope of buying a the Boardwalk direct. But he kept on telling me it made no difference where my home resort was because I could always go anywhere. From reading these boards I don't think that will always be true, especially in early December when I want to go.

What are the advantages of buying direct vs. from a broker?

I was very surprised at such a strong sales pitch in favor of the Beach Club at the expense of the Boardwalk.

Our guide called us yesterday too© I was so excited I barely let him finish a sentence© He mentioned much of what has already been said©©©©we have until Saturday to decide if/how many points to purchase, and on Sunday the leftover points will open up to those not on the waitlist© Our current use year is September ¥he said all use years are available¤© I asked how many points were available and he said 'as many as you want© I can sell you up to 2000 right now©' He said Disney has lowered the financing rate to 9©7%, and that we would be getting the points in our current use year ¥which began last September¤© Forgot to ask about magical beginnings©©©

This is one of those want vs© need dilemmas© I'd really like to buy a whole bunch more points - knowing that the chances of getting more Boardwalk pts in the future will be slim to none© On the other hand - do we *really* need more? We have enough for a one week vacation in Disney every year© Oh what to do©©©what to do©©©© ;¤
