Moonlight Magic question

Hi folks... long time listener/reader, first time poster.

My wife's parents became DVC members several years ago to use for their only grandkids (our kids) and us. They are not using most of the benefits, including special events. We are actually going to be on property during one of the events, and we had hoped to try to get into a moonlight magic event.

We have been told, and I believe correctly, that we will need to be named on the deed in order to access these events (become cardholders ourselves.) Do you know if this is 100% true? They are in the their 70's now, and do not want to attend this late night event.

Curious if any of you have had experiences being able to access the park with the membership card, but in our case it would not be our name. (they would be on the matching room reservation, though)

We have engaged DVC membership about this, and we have initiated the deed change discussion.

We did the title change with two of our contracts, and added our adult children. We went through First American Title Which is the company that Disney uses. We had no problems, with them, though it did take about three months. However part of the delay was for reasons like the fact that I forgot to pay certain fees to them.

I really cannot tell you much about what your Access might be to moonlight magic since whenever we have used DVC for special events and discounts with family members we have always been there.

Moonlight magic or other special events often sell out months in advance, so if you are interested you need to contact the DVC member services and schedule it and pay for it as soon as possible.

For entry, at least one person in the group needs a DVC membership card and photo ID that shows the same name as the card (and thus at least one member of the group needs to be able to prove he or she is a DVC owner). Checking for both all the time is a matter of discretion but you should assume you will need to show both and not just someone's membership card. Those nights often fill quickly after they are announced.

I have attended and have had to show my dvc card and photo ID to get my wristbands. I think only dvc member services will be able to tell you correctly. Hopefully you are listed on their contract as an associate member or they won’t even talk to you. That’s the folks can do online. It doesn’t get you any benefits, but dvc will at least talk to you to discuss it.

Would they be traveling with you? If so they could sign up for the event, wristbands usually can be picked up at the resort. So if your parents will be traveling with you they could pick up the bands and just you and your kids could attend. If they are not going to be with you then you are out of luck because a DVC member with their blue card would have to be present to check in.

One of you would need to be on the deed, with a Blue Card. If the contract is in their name, a reservation made with you as the resort guests will not qualify for MM admission. You have the same status as renters for perks - which is to say, none. You also do not qualify for TOTW access or Epcot lounge access.

This is what I recommend you do. The names cannot be changed on the deed if there is a loan. Deed(s) must be paid off to do so.

This.

Yes, we are only lowly associates on this currently. :-) They have initiated the process of adding our names to the deed, but they are also overseas currently and I don't think it will happen soon enough for this trip. What a bummer, would have been nice to go to the HS event for Toy Story Land.
