Moonlight Magic - Disneyland??

Crickets…we have a VGC reservation Nov 10th just in case! Still no word, but not looking good.

You predict Nov 10 instead of the following week? Why do they have to wait until the last minute on the west coast?!? Or just tell us it’s not happening this year! So frustrating!

How far in advance do they usually announce them?

How easy is it to get a ticket because there are only 71 total units that are considered on property? Most of those in attendance will not be staying onsite

Remembering back a few years, they historically announced the DLR event at the same time as the WDW events. The last few time it’s been held two Thursdays prior to Thanksgiving, so we hedged our bet (Nov 14, 2919 and Nov 15, 2018). That doesn’t mean they won’t bump it closer to Thanksgiving and do the 17th if they do it at all.

Yes most will be staying outside of the VGC but there are many DVC owners in SoCal or within a reasonable drive so the event does sell out. The past two events we’ve stayed on Harbor and got tickets. We did login as soon as it opened and had a long wait and stress.

My sense is that it’s a no-go this year, but we hold out hope.

Keeping my fingers crossed!

They’ve definitely done strange things with the last few DLR Moonlight Magics. The last one in November 2019 was held at DCA (not my favorite), and then if I recall correctly, January 2019 we had one at DL (rainy and cold!). It’ll be interesting to see if they return any time soon. My all time favorite was at DL in November 2017 before they reduced options! It was the best. 🥲

The Disneyland ones were great. The DCA ones needed a lot of work. They had 2 very close together one year as I recall - like Nov 2018 at DCA and then Jan 2019 at Disneyland? Am I remembering that right? Some were announced early and some seemed like a late afterthought. We just found the ones on the DL side so much more organized and handled crowds so much better than the DCA ones.

Yes, if we weren’t local, we definitely wouldn’t do the DCA MM. There just aren’t enough rides at DCA to equate to shorter lines during those events, and even the food voucher usage was a pain due to crazy lines. And yes! That was the strangest to have the two events (Nov. 2018 and Jan 2019) so close to each other. Totally agree that DL is the better park for the after hours events!

Same - We are local too. And the DCA ones we could skip. I know I was supposed to go to the one at DCA in Nov 2016, but between having the flu and the final game of the World Series (my Cubs finally won), I missed it. I was disappointed to miss it but got over that with events that night in Cleveland. And yes, my strongest memories of the DCA MM that I went to was the ridiculous lines to get in and then to get food. Ride lines also were pretty bad. Disneyland one was just so amazing how much better it was!

In order to qualify you have to purchase your timeshare directly from the developer, not resale.

We've hedged our bets again this year and booked Nov 15-16, 2023 VGC studio. Looking back on the previous November dates I'm more convinced (or self-diluted) that if held in November, it will be the 16th....It's awesome that they've announced that it will happen, but sucks that we are entering the 11 month window for the VGC (Nov 2023) without a date. If it's held in prior to October 2023 it looks like there will be no studios available at our home resort. We'd likely stay off property as we've done in the past. Here's to stalking the DIS boards, DVC site, and Parks Blog....
