Moon this morning

I had to take the kids to the airport today at oh-dark hundred and was rewarded for my good deed with a nice clear sky and a full moon when I returned home - I was inspired by someone on the board having taken a picture of the moon recently so I scurried into the house, grabbed the photo backpack, set up the tripod and camera and et viola':

That's as big as I could get it with a Rebel XS (10mp) and a 200mm (ok 320 equivalent). I need more megapixels or more millimeters

I'm still impressed with the 70-200 F4L though.

Oh - it was funny watching the 'focus assist' light kick on for each shot

Very nice shot! We noticed how gorgeous it was night before last, but I didn't have your gumption to do anything about it!

How did you get the moon to stop for you?

Ha!

Funny thing though I took about 20 pictures - trying different f-stops and speeds - so from the first shot to the last the whole process took maybe 10 minutes? And when you look at the series one picture after the other you can just see some rotation of the moon happening - there is a small crater just above the large crater on the right of the Moon that started out with one edge not quite showing and at the end of the string you can clearly see the entire crater. I thought the moon always showed the same 'face' toward Earth?

Yes indeed. In fact I've got several pictures where there are tree limbs in the shot - I may try to make an HDR out of several of them since I was experimenting with exposure and some are a lot lighter than this one.
