Monumental Hotel Orlando (Crown Plaza)

Has anyone stayed in the Monumental Hotel (used to be Crown Plaza) off I Dr.
reviews look good. What part of I Dr is better to stay at (North or South)

I've seen the hotel but never stayed there.I am however very familiar with the International Drive area having stayed in probably more than half the hotels in the area.If I remember this hotel is south of Sea World on International Drive,this is a good area,still has a lot of open unbuilt areas along with several timeshare style resorts,and you're pretty close to the Premium outlets Vineland outlets.International Drive north of Sand Lake road is the older less desirable area,from Sand Lake south to like Sea World is the nicest area with a lot of restaurants and the convention center here and several nice hotels like the Peabody,Hilton and the Rosen Centre.You also have Pointe Orlando next to the convention center.South of Sea World like I said is still a good area,just not built up yet.
