We have 1hour 45min. layover in Montreal. Is this enough time to make the Orlando connection and clear customs. I am nervous about this airport as I have never been. Any inside info on the airport would be appreciated.

Last year when we flew from Ottawa to Orlando our layover was in Montreal. You no longer need to pick-up your checked luggage to clear customs in Montreal. Customs will receive an x-ray picture of all your checked luggage. In our case they simply asked a few questions to confirm the images and we moved on. We also where placed in a priority line since we had small children. I don't recall this taken more than 10 minutes.

So going to orlando from Ottawa with a stopover in Montreal, you don't have to pick up your luggage? That's great!is it the same coming back? The last time we came back ,we stopped in Montreal before ottawa and it was just one big headache.I've avoided Montreal since.

I went last year on about 45 minutes. It was fine, and that was with having to pick up our own luggage to go through customs. I'm looking forward to NOT having to do that! Not that it was a problem. I found it quick and efficient. It always feels like such a LONG airport, so use the moving walkways. Just ask someone if you feel lost or don't know where to go. I found it easy to do leading my sister and our friend in July and even easier on my own in August.

ETA: I'm flying it again in July, coming home Aug 5. I can let you know how it went. I'm flying out of Charlottetown. I'm assuming you'll fly out of Halifax, it should be a fairly similar process.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that Montreal has all their US and Canadian flights departing from the same terminal building, so even if you did have to collect your bags to go through US Customs (on the way to Orlando) or Canadian customs (on the way back), it's not too bad.

IMO, switching terminals with all your luggage in Toronto is a nightmare.
