Monthly payment plan question

Does anyone know why Disney doesn't offer the monthly pp to everyone and not just Cali residents? That might make the price increase easier for those on a tight budget.
I am assuming that they charge the amount to a credit card.

The reason is that since they accept Debit cards for the monthly payment plan, someone that is coming into the parks could put just enough for the down payment and first monthly payment on a prepaid card and then come for the number of days and leave without ever putting more money on that card. Since they live further away, chances of them coming back are less than those that live within California. Since they wouldn't be able to get in without brining their passes current, they would be more likely to get their money from California residents.

they should allow AZ and Washington and Lv since were less then 6hours away to have the monthly payments. ite'd be much easier to go

Well until just recently they only allowed monthly payments for So Cal residents, not all CA residents. I'm sure it's easier to track a CA resident over other states and there may be other reasons they keep it restricted to CA residents, I'm just glad they decided to go ahead and allow all of CA to make monthly payments, otherwise there is no way I could have an AP.....

me too pixie...last year was the first year they offered it to all CA residents....

Others said it, but its because its just TOO easy for people to take advantage of the system if you come for vacation for a week from New York somewhere, put down a single down payment, use it for a week and then dont expect to pay the rest. I'm sure that happens for pepole living in the state too but the thinking is most people who live closer would do that much less. That said I'm sure in time more places will get the monthly payments. They will probably roll it out in closer states in the future but I doubt it will ever be nationwide, just from the states that provide many visitors ie, the closes ones.

And same for WDW, Florida residents has monthly payments now, but no where else yet!

Some kind of interstate commerce clause? Imbedded state sales taxes?

Just a couple off the top of my head.

This is the main reason. The second reason is that we have Soooo Many AP holders here locally that they don't really need or want to extend it out any farther - There is no advantage to Disney.
