We're moving to seaside (Monterey area) after this's school year is up. Anyone have any recommendations on schools? We're inheriting a house, so living in a different district isn't an option. I've heard bad things about the public schools so were looking into charters, specifically the international school and monterey charter. I also need daycare recommendations. My kids will be 5 and 2, so any info you can help with would be awesome!

What area of seaside? I don't live there, but I have seen some shady sides of the area, I am sure there are nice parts as well. You might want to contact the commerce of Seaside. We visit there all the time, so I drive around the area quite a bit.

You're right, the school's in area are bad. Disappointing and sad to say when it costs so much to live here. I've heard good things about the international school. I will warn you that there is a wait list to get in. Someone I know waited at least two years. They take siblings first and the kids of people who work there first. Many charter schools have been popping up because the public schools are so bad. Many people use the day care center in Ryan Ranch. It's in Monterey off highway 68. Again, a popular place and usually a waitlist.
