When I was a child one of my friends moms would make Monster Cookies. They were huge, she used an ice-cream scoop to drop them onto the cookie sheet. I think she only baked 4 at a time on a sheet. I remember they had peanut butter, oatmeal, whole peanuts, m&ms....I loved them.

Does anyone have a recipe for these? My friend doesn't have e-mail and her mom has passed away, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Katy

That's one of my Dad's favorites and my son loves them too! I tend to make the smaller version though. ;)

Monster Cookies
12 eggs
2 lb brown sugar
4 c sugar
1 Tbl vanilla
1 Tbl maple syrup
8 tsp baking soda
1 lb butter
3 lb peanut butter
18 c oatmeal
1 lb chocolate chips
1 lb M&M’s

Mix in dishpan in order given. Drop by ice-cream scoops & flatten. (~6/sheet) Bake for 12 min. Do not overbake. Let cool on sheet a couple of min before removing!! Very important! Yield: 5½ dozen.

I finally made the dough yesterday, I baked a bunch then and I'm going again today. I made 1/2 batch, as opposed to your 1/4. UGH...its a lot of cookies! The whole batch said 5 1/2 doz, but we will have probably 4 doz from this batch. I did have to bake them 2min longer. The first ones were really, really doughy following the directions. Keep in mind...I had to do all kinds of conversions because everything here is metric, so I could have used wrong amounts of things, which could mess up baking time! The good news....they are yummy!

Thanks so much Piratesmate for posting the recipe!

I'm glad you enjoyed them Katy! :teeth: I remember that I thought the yield shown was way too little for the amount of dough it made...until I actually made them. All I can think is that we must have had a much larger ice cream scoop. ;) (This was when I lived at home & it was much larger than the current plastic ones. ;)) I should have posted that when made with the scoop they were 2-handed cookies - kind of like the ones you can buy at a fair. :lmao:

I haven't made them that way in years...I always do the smaller 1/4 recipe and make smaller cookies.

Those Monster Cookies look great! Think I will try it out one weekend.
