What route does the monorail take? Someone mentioned taking a tour with the monorail after eating at Chef Mickeys. Is that possible if you´re not going to the parks?

There are actually THREE monorail routes (with multiple trains running on each route).

On each route, the trains will "loop" around and around on their own unique track.

1) "Epcot Monorail" TTC > Epcot > TTC >
2) "MK Express Monorail" TTC > MK > TTC >
3) "Resort Monorail" TTC > Poly > Grand Floridian > MK > Contemp. > TTC >

As you can see, you can transfer from or to any monorail at the TTC (which is also the MK parking lot).

You may ride any and all of these, if you like.
They do not "let you out" INSIDE any theme-park, so you don't need a ticket.

Sure, but it is simply not complicated at all.

Each monorail "route" has its own boarding ramp and platform.

And whichever monorail you board,
you will always make a stop at TTC within a relatively short amount of time.

The resort route only stops for a very short time (roughly a minute or so)
at each resort, then it continues on.
