We're staying at The Contemporary for the first time & want to go to EPCOT for early park entry. What time will the monorail start running? I wanted to make sure it will get us there in plenty of time for early entry. Thank you!

Generally, it will start running about an hour before early entry starts. If EE at Epcot is 9:30, then the Epcot monorail should start operations about 8:30.

That said, these are just general guidelines - not a set schedule. Check with the hotel front desk for the published transportation schedule for the days you're there. Even that published schedule isn't set in stone (more like cast in Jell-o), and there could be technical issues on any given morning that delays the start of monorail operations.

Yes, technical issues are a big factor on the Epcot line. I actually liked it last summer when there was a bus to Epcot from the monorail resorts instead. Maybe it’s not so bad with Epcot opening later compared to prepandemic hours.

Transportation – Frequently Asked Questions

Q.

How early and how late do the buses run between the parks and my Walt Disney Resort hotel?
A.

Our complimentary Resort transportation—including buses, monorails and boats—generally operate from 45 minutes before a theme park’s opening time until one hour after a theme park’s closing time.
Please remember that the theme park hours often vary daily and are different from park to park, so the transportation hours for each individual park will vary on any given day. If you have questions about the specific times that buses are available, please ask a Cast Member.
In addition to theme park transportation, buses generally operate until 2:00 AM between Disney Resort hotels and Disney Springs. Taxi cabs are also available if you need to get around outside of our complimentary transportation hours.

If there would be technical issues, would buses be provided for EPCOT?

I am sure they would but if you absolutely positively have to be there at a certain time you could just reserve a ride share car ...........

We just had this issue. They said buses would be provided but it took so long that we decided to drive our car instead

I've been asking around as well because when we went in Aug. the first monorail was definitely late to the party. Therewere already lines of ppl. at the turnstiles when we came in and it was pretty disappointing seeing how late we were for rope drop being on the first monorail of the day. This of course was before early entry, but I'd like to know before our next trip what the current status is. No one seems to know though.

Lol...no offense but no one on the dis is wanting the spiel that Disney spouts off. Transportation hours they give especially are always insanely fabricated. I assume OP is asking for first hand accounts/experiences.

I don't think that will get you there as the first buses arrive either though...aren't ride shares sent to the regular parking lot??? Since reopening buses have been getting in before they allow cars in.

Hmmmm I wasn't aware we had a group spokesperson but alright ............I am just plain folk so I always go back to the old adage my grand daddy once taught me .... if you don't like what someone has posted on a messageboard in response to someone elses question don't read it. ......

I apologize if my response seemed offensive. It was not intended to be towards you. It is just beyond frustrating that WDW consistently gives out misleading and false information. Transportation start times is one of their specialities. I guess I assumed those on the dis were aware, but I may have been mistaken. Just for information to all; you cannot trust the start times Disney relays...if you do, you'll be behind many others. I always feel badly for those who arrive at the park at opening assuming Disney is actually opening at the scheduled time, just to find out there are tons of ppl already in the park. For the monorail, if you arrive at the station 45 mins. prior to park open, you will most likely be behind many taking the monorail and even more who have bused in.

We personally enjoyed the bus that was an hour and 15 minutes before start time for MK, we were the first people at the park... And I'm guessing the bus behind the one we had was probably way late. Also got hit the other way, was heading to the bus stop an hour and 10 before park open and we waved at the bus as it drove by, then got to wait 25 minutes...
