last week prior while riding the monorail from epcot to ttc right before we would get to ttc about where the accident was I assume cause we were really close - the monorail would come to a stop and the driver came on the speaker and asked at this time everone please stand and move to the center of the monorail.... everyone looked very puzzled but did it. and less than a min later we moved again right into ttc..
This happen 2x's on different ones.

Any thoughts.?

How odd! I was at WDW last week, but I didn't ride the monorail between TTC and Epcot. I was only on the Express train to MK and that never happened.

I did learn that guests aren't permitted to ride up front, since the incident.

Do you mean each individual car? What difference would it make safety-wise if I sat on the bench at the end of the car or stood up and moved to the center? What if the car is full?

It's sad that guests can't ride up front anymore.

Yeah its sad they cant ride up front anymore. We were lucky enough to ride up from on the 4th just before the accident. Anyway back to what your asking about I do know that if people bump into the doors it will cause the monorail to come to a stop so maybe that was the case I don't know its the only logical reason I can see.

We took the Monorail to EPCOT from TTC and didnt see anything like what you described and this was last sunday.

All the annoucement said and I will assume it was to ALL Cars cause the one I was in only had folks sitting on the seats... It stop and She came on and said at this time I need everyone to stand in the middle of the monorail car.
So we took it as everyone seated or not needs to stand..
no other explaination given...
But the thought of leaning on doors sounds logical, but at the same time on one of our over crowded cars a girl leaned the entire route on the car door and nothing happen..except for me thinking..don't you see the sign over the door saying DONT lean on doors????:confused3

There are signs like this on all train doors, not just the monorail. I think it's just a standard saying. I've never seen a train stop because someone/thing was against the door. And yes, I've even been known to lean a time or two on public transit. :rolleyes1

But yes, that is incredibly odd about the monorail stopping. :confused3
