Newbie here, and probably a silly question...
We'll be staying in the Wilderness Lodge, and I'm pretty sure the Disney monorail doesn't serve that location. But the kids in our party are very excited by and want to ride on the monorail (don't ask me why). Since I never rode on it myself would anyone know if people that doesn't stay in the hotels/resorts served by the monorail can just take a fun ride on it? Like, board and be back in the same station/park?

Thanks, and sorry for the newbie question. I'm not big on Disney knowledge myself...

Sure, go ahead and ride! Be sure to ask to ride in the front car. It can only hold about 4-6 in the front, but it is a great view, especially at night. It will give you a chance to see the Contemporary, GF and the Poly. You can also take the monorail from the MK to Epcot at the TTC. Have fun!

as i understand it, max of 4 guests in the nosecone, no exceptions.

We do exactly what you are describing the first day on every trip. We personally don't want to spend a days ticket on a day when we are tired from travel. So we take the resort monorail and stop at each resort. We get off and walk around if we feel like it. We love shopping at the Contemporary.

From Wilderness lodge, take the boat to the Contemporary. You can walk into the building and catch the resort monorail from there. I agree with asking for the front car, but do remember it is a max of 4 people and there may be a wait on the resort line as each monorail is designated for a certain resort. You may get to ride to the next stop and then have to move back if someone is waiting.

If you really want a fun, long ride up front, try to take the TTC to Epcot ride. It is long and fun!

Enjoy one of our favorite first day things.

Since my family and I always stay at the Contemporary if there is a day when we just plan on relaxing, sometimes I like to ride the Monorail all around the Magic Kingdom Resort line which is something fun to do.

Not a silly question at all.

Given that I always stay at a Disney resort but never on the monorail line (too expensive for my blood), I have no real need for the monorail. However, no trip would be complete without at least one trip on the monorail. In fact, when I plan my itinerary, I always look to see when I'll be riding the monorail.:)
