I would like to take a break from MK one day by having lunch in one of the monorail resorts. Our choices are:

Grand Floridian Cafe
Kona Cafe
Concourse Steakhouse

I have studied the menus and all have options I would eat. To be honest, there isn't much I don't eat. So, I wondered what it was like to eat at these places for lunch and if service was way better at one place to another, and what the atmosphere was like. Is the food not great, etc.

Many thanks for your help,
Claire

i haven't eaten at any of them. the menu at kona looks really good to me. but if it were me i think i would pick based on the resort. is there one of those 3 that you are just dying to see? it would be a good opportunity to go explore a resort, and have lunch. hope someone who has eaten at these responds as well, but personally i would pick based on where i wanted to explore.

HAVE FUN!

We've had lunch at all three although the Concourse just once. Service there was not good that day and our food was OK.

No need to return with GFC and Kona so close. Both have great food and service. GFC is a very pretty restaurant and we have lunch there almost every trip. The atmosphere is quiet and the view is of the beautiful GF courtyards.

Kona is great as well. It's on the second floor of the GCH. You can watch the monorail glide by from the restaurant and the sound of the waterfall is always in the background. Although the lobby of the GCH can be bustling at breakfast and dinner, it is usually rather quiet at lunch other than on Sunday.

I think 3lilprincesses has a great point about choosing based on which resort you want to explore especially since the menus all appeal to you.

DS13 & I have
dinner PS at GF Cafe for our arrival night
brkfst PS at Chef Mickey's for our first full day
brkfst PS at Kona
and PSs for brkfst, lunch & dinner at Whisp Cany

We adore Kona - It is a must do for lunch every trip. To be fair tho, I haven't tried the other 2 (yet)

Of those on your list, I have only been to Kona for lunch, but I have been there several times and it is one of my absolute favorite WDW restaurants.

We ate at the Kona on our last trip and now it is a must do for us as well. :)

Only eaten at Kona, and it was great. Plus, the atmosphere at the Poly is great, the tropical plants and the waterfalls make a great background for your meal, VERY RELAXING!

We've actually eaten lunch at all three. The GF cafe has a very limited menu - I would rule it out. The other two are excellent choices. I think my favorite for lunch would be Concourse Steakhouse. In the summer, they have this delicious Summer Peach Salad and they have the best burger on property.

Pam, sometime over the past couple of years we had lunch at GFC when a shorter menu was offered. Don't know why that was but that has not been the norm over the years. The menu is usually at least as long as Konas. Deb's site lists 7 appetizers at each and 15 main course selections at GFC and 10 at Kona. Anyway, we enjoy both.

BTW, GFC now offers mini-desserts which my daughter and husband really enjoyed this trip. Just the right size.

Of course, Kona has the same great desserts offered at dinner. :teeth:

OK, now I'm getting hungry!

Thankyou for all your replies. I couldn't decide based on the resort because I have eaten at 2 for dinner (Ohana and Chef Mickeys) and visited GF so my kids could go to the Wonderland Tea Party, so I have had a lookie at all. Kona seems to be the popular choice here, unless anyone would like to add more.....

Much pixiedust,
Claire

We have a tradition of eating lunch at Kona Cafe'...they have awesome burgers, outstanding deserts, and the best coffee in Walt Disney World. The service is excellent...and it is never crowded at lunch time. It is SO nice to take a sit-down break in an air conditioned restaurant while someone waits on you. Another added benefit is that it is not a long walk to the cafe' from the monorail...

It is especially nice if you have children--they have great children's plates there... and there is a nice lounge area--usually with the big screen TV playing Disney movies... near the bathroom...so if you have little kids to potty or diaper...another member of the family can stay with the other kids in a nice comfy seating area.

We are always happy eating here. :)

Another vote for the Kona Cafe. I've eaten at all three, but that's my favorite. The GFC is a close second.

we have eaten at all 3. All are good and a very nice break from the park. Our favorites are: Kona Cafe,Concoourse Steakhouse and last would be GFC.

Kona is my all-time favorite WDW restaurant for all 3 meals -- breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food never fails to please!!! I'm craving the mahi-mahi I had for dinner there last week. Yummmmm.
