Monorail question

On our last day, we plan to spend the morning in MK just wandering and seeing things we might have missed or those we'd like to repeat. We have an ADR at Chef Mickey's at 10:50. We figure we'll be ready to leave the park around 10am or so (EMH) and I thought DS3 might like to take the monorail to the Contemporary, going from MK to the Contemporary (I assume looping through the other resorts) How would we do this and what time would we have to leave MK to make it for our ADR? We also have ADR at Ohana's that night at 5:40 and plan to head to MK afterwards so we could do it after dinner instead ... or would it be nicer to do the monorail in the morning and the boat to MK after dinner???

Thanks!

Joanne

The Contemporary is the first stop from MK on the resort monorail, just a few minutes away. You could probably leave MK by 10:30 and make it. (Note: you can also walk it, a 10 minute walk.) If you want a longer monorail ride, after dinner MK is two stops from the Poly on the resort monorail.

The boat is great any time.

You can ride the Resort Monorail ANY TIME you like if you want to visit any of the resorts (and I recommend that you DO!)

Thanks! What if we were to not get off at the Contemporary and go the full loop from MK to Contemp all the way around to Contemp again so we could be on the monorail for the full loop.... how long would that take? In other words, if we leave MK at 10:10, could we do the full loop and still make our 10:50 ADR or are there long stops when people load?

The loop normally takes about 15 minutes. It COULD take much longer if MK is near closing.

We've stayed at the Contemporary and we would always walk to and form the park. It is a nice walk. There is usually not a lot of people and it only takes about 10 minutes.

Robo, just saw your response. Thanks. Its good to know the full route time. We might do that before we head to the contemporary in the morning. We won't be in the MK in the afternoon though. In the morning, we'll be going from resort to MK to Contemp to resort. We'll then break and go from resort (by car) to Poly to MK to Poly (to get car) ... I was thinking of using the boats from Poly to MK (I figure about 15min or so) but didnt know about doing the boats after the fireworks. We'll be with two small kiddos (3 and 7months) ... what's the best/fastest way back to the Poly after the fireworks - monorail or boat?

Joanne

The loop can take a long time if you happen to be on it when they do one of their periodic "tests" of the system. I'd follow Robo's suggestion to just do the full loop for fun (stopping at the resorts to take a look) and not when you are in a hurry. In our experience, the monorail takes less time than the boats.

definately do a loop....give it plenty of time and enjoy the views....we didn't quite do a full loop....we did TTC to contemp before our CM breakfast then we walked from contemp to MK to try and walk off a calories!

Definitely wait until afterwords. When you get to the platform tell the CM your little one would like to ride up front. It is really cool to "help" drive the Monorail. HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

You may have to wait to ride up front, though. The advice I received before I tried it was to approach the CM at the platform gate and ask discreetly. We had to wait for two monorail cars to go by before we could load but it was WONDERFUL! Very memorable!!
