Monorail question from MK

I thought I heard there was a way to bypass the Express Monorail to the TTC...by taking the Contemporary monorail, which usually has a shorter line?? Does anyone know this for sure...has anyone done this...is this allowed? This is going from the MK to the TTC after the park closes, or right before.

The Resort monorail is only for resort guests. They may ask to see your resort ID.

The resort monorail will be stopping at the Contemporary before it goes to TTC. So not really any quicker than just waiting for the Express that makes no stops on the way to TTC.

Yep... the resort monorail makes stops, so would take longer than the Express to the TTC.

It seems like the crowds are about the same either way. I'd just take the Express.

Can anyone confirm this? We always stay off-site, but have taken the resort monorail a few times to see the resorts. We were never asked for id.

been asked for ID at the monorails.

I've never been asked to show Disney guest ID on any form of transportation.

We were not staying at the resort and took the resort monorail which had no line instead of the express monorail that had a long line. We've never been asked for ID, and sometimes we are going to Contemporary to eat or go to the game room, so they shouldn't need ID for that anyway.

The only time I have ever been requested to show Resort ID for the Resort Monorail was on EMH, because the general public is held at the Monorail Station until park opening...If you just want the fastest way out of the MK at park closing try the ferry...they fill-up fast and leave...you'll be back at TTC before two monorails have left MK.

No they won't. It is for anyone. This is how you can go to the resorts to eat and shop if you want a break from the MK.

Excuse Me...I have not visited since 2000 - But I thought all holders of Multi Day Passes and All Guests of Any WDW Resort were entitled to unlimited and unrestricted access to all forms of Public Disney transportation?

Of course this excludes Boat Charters etc. etc.

We were there a few weeks ago during Spring Break when the park was really crowded. The line for the Express was really really long so I asked a CM if anyone could take the resort monorail, and if it stopped at the TTC....just had to make sure before we got on it and found out it didn't go there. Anyway, the CM told me yes to both questions. The monorail tram was empty and it was nice to sit down instead of being packed into the express. It may take a little longer to get to the TTC, but it was definitely worth it for us to have the car to ourselves and relax.

All guests with a pass are allowed to use any Disney Transportation. They only call it the 'Resorts' monorail because it stops at the resorts. The Express monorail just goes from TTC to MK. Over. And Over.....

If we are at the MK and have parked at the TTC, we always hop the resort monorail back at the end of the day. It's not crowded, we can sit down in the air conditioning and enjoy the sights. Yes, it does stop at the Contemporary, but if the line for the Express monorail is really long, the Resort monorail option is quicker by far.

And you don't feel like cattle being herded.
