Monorail Play Set

My partner has offered to buy me an electronic Monorail play set to run around the base of my Disney-themed Christmas tree. I would love to have one, but I just read several negative reviews on Amazon. I would like to hear the opinions of any DIS members who may have purchased a Monorail play set. Are the sets well-made and sturdy?

We have one and love it but I wouldn't really call it sturdy. The average cat or toddler would knock it down easily. You will need extra track if you want to circle the tree because the track that comes with the monorail wouldn't be enough.

Are you going to get the Contemporary, Polynesian Hotel and Spaceship Earth to go with it? I would love to get those sets but just can't justify spending that much $$$ right now.

Thank you for your response. Since there are no children or pets in our home, it sounds like the Monorail would easily and safely serve its purpose as a decoratiove item.

At this time I do not anticipate getting the other set pieces.

Seriously, it's not the Monorail without the Contemporary.

We have it, but put it on a raised platform with the Disney Christmas village houses and Dept. 56 houses. You will definately need extra track in order to get around the tree. We have the Contemporary and Poly as well, but I think they would be too large to put around the tree, unless you have a ton of extra space. They are also somewhat flimsy...I think putting them on the floor they would get bumped/knocked way too easily. Have fun with your new Monorail!!!
