Hello. I have been reading these boards and they are great as I have been dreaming of WDW. We are hoping to take our three DD next spring to MK ages 1, 3, 6. Is it better to stay at a deluxe with a quick monorail ride to MK or a value or moderate with two rooms for naps/sleeping. Which makes life easier with little ones? Thank you.

I think the ease of riding the monorail with strollers and little one is well worth the $$$. When our kids were little, my husband and I would have a drink/read out on the balcony at the Poly while they slept.

Hi,
This all depends. I have always chosen the monorail. I did this because these resorts are close to Magic Kingdom...which is the little kids favoritr(not to mention mine). Also quick exit of the parks. Also the monorail resorts have the option of boating or walking to MK. The rooms are larger. My children could easily nap through our talking , TV etc. They really did not want to fall asleep...but once they did, no problem.

However the youngest I ever took a child is 3. That being said...wouldn't the younger ones certainly fall asleep earsier and sleep deeprer?

This is really a personal opinion. I am just telling you what I did and it worked great. The only down side is I got so spoiled by the deluxe resorts....I am addicted!!

Hope this helps!

I have to agree. the monorail resorts are too convienent to pass up, especially with young kids.

Thank you. I think since we will be spending most of our time at MK or the pool the monorail resorts will be great.

Welcome to the DIS, Kpossible!

I would think at your kids ages, staying at a monorail resort would be a much better choice. I highly recommend the Poly--the rooms are very large, and you'd have two queen sized beds and a day bed in the room. Plus, you could get a portacrib for the little one if you needed it. Request a room with a balcony or patio--that way you and your husband can sit outside and enjoy the view and talk while your kids are napping.

Slight correction to what tinkerbella22 said. You can not walk to the Magic Kingdom from all of the resorts. The only resort you can walk to the Magic Kingdom from is the Contemporary.

Have fun planning!

The CR has the largest rooms and its right on the monorail. You should be able to fit 5 people in there with no problem. The convenience alone is worth it. Just being able to take a quick ride back in the afternoon for a dip in the pool or a nap is a wonderful option while traveling with little ones. We always stay at the CR for the above reasons and the fact that theres alot of action in that resort along wi th the great shops, restaurants and friendly and helpful staff makes it all worthwhile.

this is all so true! it also applies to me and my dad being disabled now. we tire quickly and often in the heat of the day have to rest, so CR is perfect for getting back from the MK quickly.

I would def. recommend the CR for you as well, and mickey is right in the house at Chef Mickey's. you can't go wrong with that with kids the ages of yours! :)

have a great trip and welcome to DIS!

Definitely a monorail resort! It will make everything so much less stressful with strollers, tired toddlers, etc. etc. Plus it makes it so much quicker and easier to get back from MK & Epcot for that afternoon nap. A bonus for us during our January trip when we brought our 4½ year old niece was that she fell in love with the monorail (which she called the Mom-O-Rail) and was content to ride the resort loop whenever we had time to kill.

I just came back from the Contemporary, having stayed in a moderate resort the prior year. A lot less walking and waiting at the deluxe hotel, highly recommend it...

Welcome to the Dis and please know there is not one answer for all of us.

In your case I think it depends on your money situation. The monorail resorts are nice and great and if its your first time and you can afford it I would recommend them.

However, I personally now dont think they are worth the extra money and would much rather recommend saving the extra money and staying at the AKL or the WL or a moderate. I think its a much better value. You are paying the preimum price for a monorail resort, if you have the money fine. But if you wish to use that same money for other things then plan on taking some extra time on buses and staying someone else.

As a mom of 3, I vote MONORAIL, MONORAIL, MONORAIL.

I've stayed at all 3 and you can't go wrong! With 3 children you will appreciate the convenience.
