The following now appears on the internal cast web site:

Special Hard Ticket Events: During special Hard Ticket Events, the Resort Monorail runs ½ hour after the event ends.
So the Resort Monorail now officially runs until 12:30 a.m. on party nights.

The Express Monorail still closes at 8 p.m.

I can confirm this. We left MNSSHP from FantasyLand as it turned midnight after Monday's party. The resort monorail was still running when we got out of the park, and it took us right to the TTC. No problem!

Yay! This is great news! Thanks for sharing.

This is good news for those of us who linger over late night cocktails at monorail resorts.

That's good to hear that the resort monorail still runs so people have a alternative to the TTC instead of the boat.

Guess this is to reduce the long waits after the party for the TTC that people were experiencing waiting on the boat.

I'm glad Disney listened to all the customer complaints and did something about it. :)

I'm so happy to hear this. I was already dreading what the crowds were going to be like after MVMCP.

This is WONDERFUL news. We are staying at BLT and have tickets to MVMCP and I was so upset to hear about the monorail changes that took place. I am so glad to hear that Disney made a change and the monorail will be running for MVMCP!! We are going on November 15th.

While this news is great for those who attend Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, how come WDW won't extend the hours a bit when the Magic Kingdom has PM Extra Magic Hours?

Like most companies, they probably don't explain the "why" of many, if any, changes to employees. But I'll give you my opinion: because the demand isn't nearly as great as on party nights. The relatively few guests who would need the monorail can be transported by alternate methods.

I would share that opinion. Probably the critical mass that put it over the edge was all the off-site guests and locals trying to get back to TTC, which you wouldn't have on EMH nights. (That's strictly my personal uninformed opinion.:))

Great news, especially for all the deluxe resort guests who are paying a premium to begin with to stay on the monorail. For once, Disney suits listened!

The decision must have depended on past experience on how many buses needed to be run.

I kinda' think that some of the substitute buses for Polynesian, etc. should not have stopped at Transportation & Ticket center, in order to more or less dedicate them to resort guests.

Resort Monorail now operating later on ticketed event nights
Oct 14, 2011

The Magic Kingdom Resort monorail is now continuing to operate until 12:30am on hard ticket event nights, such as Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. The express and Epcot monorail continues to close down 1 hour after the respective regular park closing.

Here is the full rundown of the current schedule.

Resort Monorail
The Resort Monorail runs from 7am until 1 hour after regular hours park closing at the Magic Kingdom.
For ticketed events, such as Halloween and Christmas Party nights, the resort monorail runs until 30 minutes after the event ends.

Epcot Monorail
The Epcot Monorail runs from 8am until 1 hour after regular hours park closing.

Express Monorail
The Express Monorail schedule begins 30 minutes prior to Magic Kingdom opening until 1 hour after regular hours park closing.

We are staying at BLT, what monorail would run for the Contemporary? The Resort Monorail? Then if the Epcot Monorail is running after MK would close would we still be able to take the Epcot Monorail all the way back to BLT? This is our first time staying at a resort with monorail service.

1. You would take the Resort Monorail from CR to TTC, Poly, GF or MK.
2. The Epcot monorail only runs between Epcot and the TTC. If going back to BLT from Epcot you need to take Epcot monorail to TTC, get off and get in line for the Resort Monorail which would be stop #4.

Then if the Epcot Monorail is running after MK would close would we still be able to take the Epcot Monorail all the way back to BLT?
If the Epcot Monorail is still running, but the Resort Monorail has already closed for the night, then it will be one of 2 things:

Either

  1. The Epcot Monorail will take you to TTC, and from there you will take a bus to the resort; or
  2. There will be a bus to the resort from Epcot, bypassing the monorail entirely.
I don't which of these is true, but I think it's #1. Best thing to do is ask the monorail cast what to expect when you travel to Epcot in the a.m.

This sounds like a nightmare trying to figure out the monorail schedule now that they shut down at different times. I don't think I would ever spend the money again to stay on the monorail loop again if I am going to have to relay on the buses.

Thank you for all the help in trying to figure out a route to use the monorail back from Epcot if the Magic Kingdom is already closed. I am mainly concerned with a route on November 11, 12, 13 and 14. I guess I will have to figure out the park calendars and then equate that into monorail hours.
