Monorail Modified Schedule

Good Morning!

How concerned should I be about the modified monorail schedule through 2015? We're going in October, currently booked at Poly, may move to GF.

Typically we get to the park early, leave in the afternoon to swim/relax before heading out to dinner. Don't mind taking a boat back to the resort, but really want it to get to the parks. Afterall, I'm paying for an MK deluxe because I hate the buses...

Out of our 7 days, we are planning on MK & Epcot for 5-6 days.

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi

I think you'll be ok, especially since you have the boat option. I found this online.... "Adjusted hours for refurbishment - The Express beam (between the TTC and Magic Kingdom) will shut down on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 11:30am and 6pm from 3/10/15 - Summer 2015. An exact end date is not known." I'm not finding anything for October. Maybe that's a good sign ;)

This has me a tad concerned. I'm staying at the Polynesian. I have no interest in alternative forms of transportation. If I wanted a bus, I would stay in a moderate.

I called the Polynesian and lady said everything is running normal now but couldn't provide any detail on September.

I've been planning under the assumption that this schedule (http://www.wdwmagic.com/transportat...ney-world-monorail-system-operating-hours.htm) will continue throught the fall. We are staying at the GF in early September. We are rope droppers, but don't do EMH. From what I can tell this will cause an issue for Epcot 4 mornings during our trip. I think I'll be able to plan around it and/or deal with a bus one Epcot day. MK should be ok though right?

You most likely called the main 800 number because the hotel doesn't take direct calls. Be aware that these people give wrong info all the time.

Hi Heather! Does it say anything about the resort monorail? Hopefully it's only the express beam and not the resort one. 46 more days! Are you back at #%€£ yet? Lol!

If you are concerned, I would stay at the Poly. You can walk from the poly to the TTC to take the express monorail if the resort monorail is not running. If neither monorail is running, you can use the resort boat to the MK or walk to the TTC to get the ferry across. They may add buses as well, of course.

At the GF you only have easy access to the resort boat and buses if the monorail isn't running.

Various sites are reporting there will be monorail refurbishments through December 2015.

It's listed under "Magic Kingdom" here:

For all the money guests pay to stay at one of the MK deluxes, you think they would at least give an updated idea of monorail availability:confused3:confused3

Just hoping we can get to rope drop at MK from the GF this August:confused:

Wow. We're staying at the GF for the first time and doing MK 3-4 days of our trip. Monorail was suppose to a huge bonus for us!

Unless there's serious maintenance, I've never seen the resort monorail shut down so early in the morning. Disney will shut it down during the slower early afternoon crawl, and in which case you can always take the motor launch between the MK, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian. I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm not too worried about getting to MK first thing in the morning. But, we plan to go back to the Contemporary during the afternoon to nap or swim in the pool. I'm wondering about monorail transportation back to our resort around lunchtime and then returning in the late afternoon/early evening.

I'm also concerned about getting to Epcot at rope drop, leaving midday, and returning for an ADR at Via Napoli for dinner.

When we booked our trip, we wanted to return to Beach Club where we had a wonderful time swimming in Stormalong Bay. The main reason for us staying at CR is the monorail. We will be at MK 4 out of 6 days, so staying at a monorail resort made sense to us. If we knew that there were monorail issues, we may have planned an entirely different WDW vacation.

AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last August the early Epcot monorail wasn't running until 9:00am, so they were bussing to Epcot for rope drop.

If you are at MK, you can walk back and forth to the Contemporary. It is probably easier!
About Epcot, looks like you would be affected for rope drop on Sun-Wed only. Dinner transportation should not be affected,as it looks like it the Epcot and Resort beam don't stop during the day.

We will be going to Epcot on a Tuesday, so it looks like we are driving or taking a bus.

Thanks to everyone who has shared information.
