Monorail line in DTD on a Saturday night?

What should I expect in terms of a monorail line from DTD into the parks on the first Saturday night in May? I'm thinking we'll want to board the ride around 7:45-8 p.m. Is the line going to be outrageous and would it make more sense to walk all the way through DTD to the entry plaza instead and go through the turnstiles? Curious to know if anyone has dealt with a similar scenario in the past. We plan on eating at Rainforest at 6:30--if we have a PS will we get in and out of there in an hour?

Also, we plan on entering the park that Saturday night for the express reason of seeing the fireworks. Would it be better to enter Main Street and walk toward the castle or come over from Tomorrowland? If I got there around 8 how crazy busy will Main Street already be with waiters? Will we find a spot?

Taking the monorail should be fine. There shouldn't be that long of a line. At most you'd have to wait one monorail circuit (depending on how many trains they're running). However in and out of Rainforest Cafe at 6:30 in an hour on a Saturday will be tough. Service isn't the fastest (as it shouldn't. One of the main purposes of the restaurant in to soak in the atmosphere) so I would count on 90 min, be happy with less.

With fireworks starting at 9:25, and 8PM, the crowds shouldn't be that large (except for the few starting to stake their claim near the hub) at either Tomorrowland or Main Street. The main fireworks crowds start showing up (and staying, keeping their place) around 8:30-9:00.

Cool, thanks DLR...I wasn't really thinking about the atmosphere being a part of the dining experience...just seemed like the best choice to kick off our trip with the theming etc. so that makes a lot of sense. I don't want to rush anything, I'm just trying to figure out my timing. This info helps a lot!
