Monorail from MK to TTC?

Today when we were leaving MK the bag check guy told me we should take the resort monorail to TTC because it's faster? Does it go to TTC? And would it be faster?

Yes, it does stop at TTC after stopping the Contemporary Resort. As far as whether it's faster...

Assuming both trains leave MK at the same time, the express train (MK & TTC stops only) will be faster.
As far as whether the train YOU get on would be faster... how long is the wait for the express monorail? How long until a train comes in?

Generally, you won't need to wait on multiple trains on the resort side. BUT, I would think the express side goes through trains quicker (although I have no stats to back that up).

That's what I thought. We were going to take the ferry so we went out through the bag check and then saw the long line so decided to do the monorail so we had to go back through. First he said I couldn't do that (go through and to the monorail and not the park) but I think he was joking. Then he said we should take the resort monorail. At this point both girls and I were melting and starving so I wasn't in the mood for his joking- assuming that's what he was doing.

Then when I cooled off I wondered if he was right.

He might have meant that there are fewer people that will go to take the resort monorail so, if lots of people are leaving at the same time and there is a wait for the express monorail but no wait to get on a resort monorail, the resort monorail will be quicker (not that it travels faster, just that you'd get on the next train and to the TTC sooner).

Thanks. We were leaving around 12:30 today and there were only 2 other people going up the ramp. That's good to know for busier times though!

Actually he probably directed you to the resort monorail since you had already exited. In order to get to the express, I think you would have had to back through bag check. I know the resort monorail entrance is outside bag check. Was the express entrance on the other side of bag check? I can never remember how they have it closed off.

We did have to go back through bag check but we were standing at the bag check table when he said it. It was just a strange interaction.

I would say taking the Express Monorail from the Magic Kingdom to TTC would be faster since it doesn't anywhere, so I would say what that Cast Member told you was wrong.
