Monorail expansion???

When I was at Disney last November. I remember talking to a Monorail conductor. And he made a comment about them expanding the monorail to different parks. Is this true? And where should they have it?

Last I heard... it would be way too expensive to expand the monorail system.
I wish it did include all 4 parks and more of the resorts!!!

but I doubt it's true. You get all kinds of info from CM's, some good info some bad. I would love for this to be true.

I'd doubt its true. Monorails are really expensive.

I did hear a rumor about a trolley system - or some other form of light rail transit - probably on the ground along the streets. That would probably make more financial sense.

(I'd love old fashioned trollies).

A little bit of advice (piggybacking on what PamNC said) - Never listen to transportation CMs (ie. monorail workers, ferryboat operators, Friendship barges, tram drivers). They are notorious for giving out phony info. As for other CMs, be sure to take what they say with a grain of salt, too.

Nevertheless, it's always fun.

BTW, the monorail expansion would be TREMENDOUSLY expensive and probably won't ever happen. With the multitude of resorts now, there's no way they could connect the monorail to all of them which means they'd probably have to make another hub like the TTC...but then what would be the point of that?

Then again, these rumors are always fun!

I have been around here enough to see this "rumor" surface many times. It is always shot down by "people who know".
I think I remember hearing the cost would be a million dollars per mile and therefore prohibitive. I am sure someone will tell me if I have it wrong.
Sure would be nice if it was true though!

If they were expanding the monorails..the upfront castmembers would be the last to know.

i heard from a CM that if they were to expand the monorail, it would be expanded to the MGM Studui and resort area only. but considering it costs something like $2mil a mile i doubt it would happen. would be nice though.

I doubt they will expand it to all the resorts, and even if they did expand at all it would probably happen slowly, like to MGM first. If you have a lot of people riding the monorail, they will need more tracks, etc... and they will have to redesign the current system.
