We are going to be staying at either Boardwalk or Beach Club and have been told it isn't too bad of a walk to the monorail at Epcot.

I would think this would be much faster than taking the bus to/from Magic Kingdom.

Can anyone tell me how long the Monorail travel time would be?
(I have heard it takes 45 minutes by bus)

Thanks,
Guy

Take the bus. You'll need park admission for EPCOT, not an issue if you have a hopper. It's probably at least a 30 minute walk from your resort to the International Gateway though EPCOT to the monorail. Monrail to the TTC then monorail to the MK will take at least another 30 minutes. For some reason I think the monorail from EPCOT to the TTC is almost 20 minutes.

Going through EPCOT makes sense if you have a reason to go to EPCOT. Dinner in EPCOT on the way from the MK back to your resort. You want to go on Soarin first thing in the morning.

Great advice, take the bus. It drops you off at the park entrance.

The actual time on the bus from Boardwalk to Magic Kingdom is about 20 minutes. The 45 minutes includes time potentially spent waiting for the bus. Going through Epcot will always be longer.

I agre with what everyone else has written, especially that the bus ride won't take 45 minutes, but that it could take up to that INCLUDING waiting time for the bus to come pick you up.

The walk from the BoardWalk entrance of BoardWalk Inn to the Epcot monorail station is just a tiny bit more than 1 mile (I mapped the route here: http://www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=321125 ). If you walk at a leisurely pace of 2 miles per hour, that's a 30 minute walk. Then you could wait 10 minutes for the monorail. Then the ride itself is only about 8 minutes.

Then you have to get off the monorail at the Transportation & Ticket Center, walk down the ramp, walk to another ramp to back up to another platform, and then wait up to another 10 minutes for the express monorail, and then the maybe 2 minute ride to MK.

So you're looking at an up to 1 hour, which will include a 1 mile walk ... versus a wait at a bus stop and a ride to MK in no more than 45 minutes.
