Has anybody had this experience? We asked to sit up front with the driver and was told "no problem" by a friendly CM. We were sent to the front and waited for the drivers door to open. When the driver opened the door he motioned us in without speaking. During the whole trip he only spoke once, when we asked him a question. We got the feeling we were bothering him. When we exited he never spoke or offered our daughter a licence ...just opened the door & walked out. Are all monorail drivers like that. I with that we had got his name and reported him. In 10 days @ WDW it was the ONLY rude Cm we met. The bus drivers & security people were really friendly.

We had one last year. When it was over my DH asked him for liscences for the kids, and he sighed and dug in his pocket for them. This was the only time though, because we let the kids ride upfront once every trip.

I have never ride with the monorail driver before. But I guess the reason why he was not responsive might be due to safety issues. Remember when you take a bus, there is always a sign saying "don't talk to the driver during operation..." or something like that? But if before and after the ride he is still mean and ugly, there is a major issue going on then...

He is not a CM... He is only a driver. Would that make you feel better?

:D :D :D

We rode in the front twice on our trip to WDW in October and had really great CM's..

On the second trip, I even got to sit in the driver's seat for a few minutes while we were moving. He was still doing the driving but said I would get a kick out of being in the driver's seat.

He didn't have the co-pilot's licence for me because he was out of them.

He explained how the Monorail worked and told us a few little hints on where to go for great food and such...

You must have just got a monorail driver that got up on the wrong side of bed..

:)

We had one guy that didn't really say much during the ride but before we started moving and after we stopped he was great we love getting to ride up front in the monorail it is a blast for the kids and by that I mean Lisa and I hehe

April 2001

dh and dd rode up front and got co-pilots licences and had a great time!

Later in the same trip, we all sat up front, dd, dh, ds and me ~ it was a hoot! They were doing maintainance checks and had to stop the monorail a couple times, so the driver asked dd (7) to make an announcement ~ it was sooooo great! THANK GOODNESS FOR VIDEO CAMERAS! We all got co-pilots lic again! That driver was very talkative and informative ~ he was funny too! I'd do it again! S

I'm glad to hear positive responses...I know we just picked the "wrong" one...it was just the only sour CM we met this time & it stuck out. When we went in "99, there were so many cranky CM's at our hotel (ASM), that we wouldn't have noticed just one!!LOL!!

Trying to think about cranky CMs. I wouldn't say cranky, but the waiter at CINDY'S rushed about a lot. We watched the video today and noticed that again. He looked like he worked at a diner instead of A CASTLE!!!!!! He was nice, but rushed. The drivers we met were great. We went last April ~ went to MK four times and it was so quiet we could have rode up front all the time! CAN YOU RIDE UP FROM TO EPCOT TOO! Never taken the monorail to Epcot, will do that in April 2002. S

We have been fortunate enough to ride along with the driver several times and with the exception of one who barely acknowledged us, all were great and helped add a little pixie dust to our vacation. I always look upon CMs who are unresponsive as a challenge. I like to see if I can get them laughing instead!

We've ridden up front a number of times.. and only once did we get a rude CM. He really didn't want us there at all. :) But so far.. he's been the exception to the rule. I'm glad that he wasn't our first experience, because we might not have had a 2nd. :D Most of the time, they've been very informative.. chatty.. helpful.. and fun. Very fun.
