Monorail Drink-A-Thon

I was pleased to see this thread pop back up again :). I'm sitting at my computer enjoying a Brandy Manhattan my DH just made for me. Yes. Brandy. It is the state drink of Wisconsin ... I kid you not! :cool1:

Codie: I think September 1st will be a great anniversary. Ours is August 23rd and we'll be at WDW again this year :cheer2:.

Yay CODIE! I am so happy for you! :Pinkbounc Now, let me get this straight..are you getting married AND having the reception at the ADH? Wow, what a great time you will have! I wish I was "into" WDW when I got married...I would have gotten married at WDW or at least would have honeymooned there. Speaking of honeymoons...what are your honeymoon plans? Will you hang out at WDW? Maybe you should pop over to Disney's Vero Beach resort?

So apparently you love WP. I never think to eat there, becaue there is one 5 miles from my house (at Sawgrass Mills Mall in Sunrise) so I just don't think of that place when I am on vacation. But if we end up at OKW we may spend one night at DTD and we will be lookig for a place to dine. I am still crossing my fingers that we will get a studio at BWV. We are on a DVC wait list.

Please enjoy the planning stages of your wedding. They go by so fast. And don't lose sight of the fact that your WEDDING DAY =the day you marry the person you love. Of course you want everything perfect...but your wedding...like marriage...will never be perfect. So enjoy it as the "first day of the rest of your lives" no matter what!

I hope you get a videographer. We paid big $$ for a photo album that we never look at , but our video we watch over and over again! The day goes by so fast, it is fun to to see what happened!

Ok, that is all the advice I can think of right now! I am happy for ya..congrats! :cheer2:

Hi Robinb! We were posting at the same time! Enjoy your brandy! That is so funny...my DD is spending the night at my folk's so DH and I just had a few drinks...he drank Makers Mark and ginger ale, and I had a dirty martini! Then we ordered pizza! :teeth:

Yay!! 6 days until my trip!!

I only made one PS. It's for Ohana's on Saturday night. It's at 8:20 so I'll have to check the fireworks schedule for MK that night.

We are already planning to Drink Around the World. Not sure about the Monorail tour, but I'm sure we'll be able to fit it in somewhere. My brother also wants to go to Jellyrolls, so we've got plenty of lush activities planned.

JellyRolls is a dueling piano bar located at the end of the Boardwalk opposite the Atlantic Dance Hall. It is a LOT of fun!

WLL:)
Thanks for all the advice! As of right now we are doing the ceremony and the reception at ADH. We might end up having too many guests to do the ceremony there--and then we'll do it at the BW convention center. Either way I am so excited! :flower: It's funny that you reminded me that no matter what may happen the important thing is that we'll be married at the end of the day--HE tells me that every day!! :love2: can you tell how stressed I appear to him? ;-)
Our honeymoon will be spent at the Beach Club Villas. There's essentially no "extra" cost for us to stay there and we don't need a car with the new Magical Express we don't even need a shuttle from the airport! So we are excited :Pinkbounc I don't think we are getting a video professionally done but we will have someone designated as camera man:)
Yeahhhhh:)

Cannot believe this thread is at 48 pages! :earseek: I seen where I had responded to it WAAYYY back in 2004! :cool1: Well, Nov has come and gone, I tried to do the Mono-rail Drink around the world, but landed in the Poly and stayed there! And I also went to WDW in Dec. for MVMCP for the first time and had a blast. Now, I have 29 days to go for my next trip, and plan on going to FW at the Trails End Buffet, and from there going to WL to the territory lounge, and than ON from there! Hope to have Pics of this event....and hope my BF Debbie can survive the ride!!! :rotfl: ;)

I can't believe how much time I just spent reading this thread (drink in hand)!!!

I have always felt strange getting a beer in the parks at Disney (though it has never stopped me), like I am the only one drinking one, but the resorts and DTD are a different story. Because we usually go for day trips though, we haven't had too much of a chance to try too many places out at the resorts. We are going to have to try some of the suggestions here next time we go without DS, sounds like so much fun.

Aidensmom-Welcome! Glad you are enjoying the thread! :cool1:

Pooh-Please make sure to post a pic of yourself at the TL! I miss that place so much!

Codie-I just want to tell ya...I was not going to get a videographer for my wedding. But a few friends insisted, and told me about how much they love theirs and now I am so glad I did it. I paid $800 for the video and it was the best money spent. I actually wish I would have spent a little less on the wedding album. that was thousands of dollars (I am embarrassed to say how many! :sad2: !!!)

Just remember to ENJOY the planning stages and all the anticipation! I am telling you, that is half the fun! :cheer2:

I wondered where this thread was!! :teeth: I cant believe no one came in after a trip on Spring break!! :rotfl:

someone posted above about going to Trail's End Buffet, do they have beer there????????????? Still trying to decide where to get PS for an Oct trip with my parents - and if they serve beer it will make both dh and my dad very happy indeed, so dd 8 can enjoy everything else!! :drinking1

   Pooh-Only 20 days for me!   I didn't realize...are you the one I PMed with about being a native Miamian? Do you live near Ives?

eeyore-I have never been to Trails End. I bet they serve beer there, though! Hope someone can give you a definitive answer soon! :earsgirl:

I wish it was the end of May already!!
My DBF and I decided that the Monorail Drink- A- Thon is an excellent activity for our first night at WDW :goodvibes I figured it was a great way for him to see some of the other resorts, and of course sample some delicious beverages along the way :drinking1
We have a PS at Boma's our third night... should we get to AKL early to check out Victoria Falls? Also, any favorite beverages there that you suggest we try?
Cheers!
Liz :flower:

So glad to have happened on this thread!! I've spent the past three years living in New Orleans, where if you're not an alchie something's very wrong with you. Now I've moved back to the Orlando area, and I feel like a lush when I order a drink with dinner :confused3

Glad to see I'm by far not the only one who likes to drink around the World... I love everybody's ideas, very creative. Now I just need to find a drinking buddy...everybody I know around here is either a complete non-drinker or a total lightweight.

This thread is great! Keep posting your ideas and "lush reports!!"

Hi Pixie!

Miss Mouse-Have you been to Boma before? That is my favorite restaurant. We stayed at AKL last year and we spent plenty of time at VF. I know the have a few specialty drinks, but I always stick with my beloved "dirty martini!"

JL-Welcome!

I just found this thread and I think it 's wonderful! I am a lot older than you guys, but I think drinking and eating around the world is the best. Three years ago, my husband and I got to take our first trip without kids. Our friends thought we were crazy, going to WDW, when we could go anywhere else. We had a blast. It was in May and hotter than normal. On the first day, a Saturday, we lasted 90 minutes in the heat and crowds at the MK and hopped the monorail to go to the Contemporary for an early lunch and for a beer, etc. Got back on the monorail and off at the GF where we stayed until 4 p.m. enjoying the liquid nourishment there. Then off to EPCOT! Our favs are the Rose and Crown and the champagne by the glass in France in one of the shops. There is nothing like watching Illuminations while drinking a glass of champagne and eating a fantastic pastry.

My last two trips I have met my daughter, son-in-law and two granddaughters there. I plan my trips so that I arrive before they do and leave after they do (they are close enough to drive; I have to fly). I always begin and end my trips at Mizners at the GF. The CM there, Christa, is delightful and always recognizes me. I feel like she's a good friend.

Have a blast -- whatever you all do! It really is the best time. Staying on site, having so much available, and not having to worry about drinking and driving or how you are going to get home.

First of all, Welcome to the DIS and the thead :).

LOTW.jpg

We may be older than you think ;). I am often surpised at how older or younger someone is In Real Life (IRL) after "meeting" them on the DIS. I am even sometimes surprised when some one turns out to be a different gender. I can think or 3-4 people right off the top of my head, "Granny" over on the DIS boards, for instance, is a man.

I happen to be old enough to be a grandmother, but my 5 year old keeps me young :flower: . I am certain that some of my fellow high school graduates from the class of 1978 have grandchildren :).

Young or old, you're only as old as you feel. And, if you feel like having a drink at WDW you're welcome here!
