Monorail down during peak hours Jan-March 2014

Is it true that the monorail (for MK resorts) will be down from 11:30am-7pm during the first quarter of 2014?

Important Announcement Regarding Monorail Service in 2014
As part of our continuing efforts to exceed the expectations of our Guests, Resort Monorail and Express Monorail service will be temporarily unavailable from January 21, 2014 through March 2014, 11:30 AM to 7:00 PM.

During this time, additional watercraft and motor coach options will be available to help transport you to your destination. Epcot Monorail service will not be affected.

True. Nothing more to be gleaned from the official announcement I don't think.

That definitely sounds like an effort to exceed guest expectations. Maybe close down the Mountains for a few hours too while you're at it.

The silver lining is that going by what happened in the past the monorail won't be down every day or necessarily for the whole time frame listed.

Actually it's non-peak hours. Peak hours would be opening & closing times, it is open then. I also heard it will be open full time on weekends.

Correct, it should be operating during opening and closing hours, after parades, fireworks, etc. It will impact us staying at BLT but at least we have the option to walk.

Same here. We'll be at BLT next Sunday and the monorail being down will give me the opportunity to enjoy an extra Dole Whip since I'm weakling back... There's always a silver lining!
