Monorail Crowds After The Fireworks

Can anyone give me an idea of how crowded the monorail gets after the fireworks. I want to catch it back to our hotel (staying at the DL Villas) but I don't want to wait for hours for it.

In my experience, the line has been pretty long and we always check and then opt to just walk back rather than wait in the line. I haven’t tried doing that in the last year or so, so maybe someone that’s been more recently can share their experience.

In my experience, the monorail is closed during the fireworks and will not resume operations for at least 20 minutes after the fireworks end. If you watch the fireworks from the Tomorrowland side of Main Street, and had toward the monorail as soon as the show is over, you most likely be towards the front of the line. But the monorail won't be running yet, and they will not let you into the actual monorail queue. Because of that, the line backs up quickly and snakes its way through Tomorrowland, and looks like it's much longer than it truly is.

The last time we did this (and i was pushing a wheelchair, so bit even walking briskly), we waited about 10 minutes for them to resume operations, and then we got on the second monorail. Definitely beat the walk back to VDH.

The monorail reopens at 10:00, so it’s not that long of wait. If you watch the fireworks from the TL side & head straight there you should be fine. Or if you wait just a little bit it will clear out quickly. You could do a couple TL rides right after the fireworks while the standby is fairly short & then head over.
