I get they have to do repairs, but a full 7.5 hour closure of everything is ridiculous. We are staying at Poly. I'm sure they won't be running extra boats or buses. So frustrating.

A lot of people stay t monorail resorts for the convenience of the monorail. With the money spent to stay here, buses just aren't adequate.

My response was to the OPs statement...

Sorry, didn't mean anyhing by that comment re your reply. Just my frustration coming through. I'm staying at the GF and Poly next week and will not like the decreased monorail access. Buses are not my favorite things.

THAT SUCKS. I booked the CR just for convenience! At least we can still walk to MK but can't monorail to Epcot in the morning like we normally would. :(

They were doing something similar in summer 2014 when we stayed at Poly. It was a short trip, but we still only rode the monorail once or twice, even though we did MK and Epcot. We tend to do rope drop and AM EMH, which is when the monorail was shut down. They did have buses for those times, so we didn't have any problem getting to the parks. The MK and Epcot buses pick up at the normal Poly bus stop. We did find that several of every other bus but the one we needed would come, which is usually our luck. The buses started running about 6:30-6:45am.

Bummer. The decision makers in my family chose the Poly based on monorail access as well (2 strollers & an ECV in our group). That being said, I am much happier to know a schedule of down times than to have it go down willy-nilly.

I am the only one of the group that reads about Disney like ts my job, so I knew it was a possibility and did warn them. So I am sad, but not surprised.

I'm super bummed to hear about this is well. We had a wonderful to stay at the poly last year. the ease of the monorail really made us want to come back besides the hotel being so nice. We have an early ADR on Tuesday morning in Magic Kingdom. What do you all suggest us to be able to get there on time?

Thanks for posting this. Staying at the GF the last week of Feb. and didn't know but not surprised. I know things have to be repaired but this is a constant on going problem with no end in site. Paying premium prices to stay at a monorail resort without a monorail just seems wrong somehow. We will be arriving at the GF at about 11:30 am by Town car and I had planned on taking a quick monorail ride to guest services at the MK first thing to activate my AP and pick up my TIW card. Looks like this will not be happening since it won't be running, so plan B is the boat. Unless it's raining and then my only option is the bus.

I know this sounds petty but if I wanted to use bus transportation I would be staying at a moderate. One of the big selling points of the monorail resorts is the monorail, and we are staying in the main building of the GF due to the easy use of the monorail. We are planning four days at the GF before moving to the BWI so that we could enjoy the resort and the MK with afternoon breaks at the resort but I really hadn't planned on riding buses the whole time. Does anyone know if they will be having a bus for each hotel (I doubt it) or sharing between the resorts?

I'm sorry for the folks who are disappointed, but the monorail SORELY needs some TLC. If they are able to remedy the issues the monorail has been having over the past year or two, it will be worthwhile. Still, I understand that doesn't help those who forked over the big bucks to stay at a monorail resort for convenience.

Isn't it just the express beam that's effected by the 11:30-6:00 closure? The resort line - the ones that the MK resorts use- was functioning during the daytime during last year's modified spring schedule.

I agree but this isn't the first time this has been done. Didn't they have this the last two years?

I read the posted info as a full shutdown from 11:30-6. They seem to know how to differentiate resort beam from express beam etc.

We are at the Poly and I estimate this will impact a one way trip to and from the parks five times. That's way too much for the premium paid. Had we known we would have booked an Animal Kingdom day on Wednesday or Thursday. But now with Fast Passes and ADRs that we can't get another day, we can't change our plans.

More buses will be nice but I'd like to see them run two or three boats from the Poly as well.

How much of a premium did you pay for a monorail resort? Every time I've looked, the Poly or Contemporary is pretty close to the price of YC/BC/BW. Just a curiosity point.

When we booked, Poly was more expensive but I can't remember by how much. And while those resorts are not on the monorail they are walking distance to Epcot. So the comparison isnt exact. Both have convenience premiums for easy access to a park.

As my original post noted, I totally get needing to do the work. I love three blocks from a commuter train.

But like resort construction, scheduled monorail maintenance closures should (as in it would be a good customer service behavior) be disclosed at the time of booking. It is possible this was scheduled at the last minute but I doubt it. If it is disclosed after booking, I'd expect an email alerting me or something in case of change my plans because of it. If I chose to stay on a monorail resort because of convenience and this is a big enough inconvenience, perhaps I would consider changing resorts. Maybe I'd pay $100 less a night and stay at WL where my options also would be boat or bus to MK.

Aside from the monorail, is there another way to get from Epcot to Magic Kingdom around 6pm on a Monday?

Last time the monorail was down at Epcot we just grabbed a Wilderness Lodge bus, got off at the bus stop, and waited for the next MK bus. We have also left from the International Gateway, walked right into Beach Club thru the lobby out the front doors to the bus walkway and caught a bus from there to MK.
