Just wondering how much money people carry with them?? Tht may sound like a weird question... but my fiance and I are going to the World for the first time during free dining and I just have no idea how much to take

:confused3

Hmmm depends on if you want to drink alcohol, (pricey) buy souvenirs, extra snacks, photos. I had the DDP 2 years ago & needed nothing. If I did find something that was outside the DDP then I just put it on my room key & paid the balance at the end of my stay.

I personally do not like to carry cash... $20.00 maybe ,so if it gets lost I'm not too upset.

Would charging it to your room be an option? As I mentioned, it's really going to depend on your own personal needs/wants.

Have a Magical Time :)

As mentioned it all depends on what you would buy.

For my family....my kids bring their own money so they are out of my equation.
This years trip I need:
about $125 for tips
about $300 to go shopping at the mall
about $50-75 for misc.

Most likely I won't spend that much at the mall and we have been to the world numerous times so we don't buy much when we are there.

BTW, we always stay for 10-14 days. This years trip is short at only 9 days. :rotfl:

The easiest thing for us is to charge anything we need or want to the room. You can do this to any kind of card. We love it and it leaves us with no worries about carrying or losing cash. You can charge anything to the room...from toys to snacks.

There really is not a lot of need to bring large amounts of cash into the parks. That being said of course sometimes it is easier for tipping or to buy stuff from the vendors however, if you are on the DDP you might just want to charge everything to your room card. If you are staying off site then maybe just using a debit or credit card would be best to avoid losing cash or being nervous about carrying it around with you.

We only bring a small amount of actual cash. Mostly to have tip money for luggage handling. Everything else we charge to the room and pay with a credit card.

Another option if you know you're going to buy souveniers is to purchase a disney gift card before you leave. We do this with the money my DS saves for the trip. This way I don't have to worry about cash, and your receipt will let you know your balance remaining. I use a sharpie to write his name on the card, just in case it gets lost and an honest person turns it in. You'll already have you room cards that you'll need to carry for the DDP,so keep them 2 together and this willhelp you stay on a budget if that's a concern because you'll have a pre-planned amount to spend.

DH and I each carry $150 in cash with us for tip and tolls and use our debit card where we can.

DH and I budgeted $800 spending money for a week, and spent 500. We charged to our room, and carried $100 to the parks each day.

Since you already have free dining, I would budget for the both of you about $40.00 to $50.00 per day. You don't have to spend it, but at least you will have it. You never know what you might see that you want.:hippie:

This upcoming trip will be my first w/ my new debit card (I've never had one before on a trip to WDW). Do most of the shops accept debit as a form of payment? If they do, I really don't see the need to carry around cash, I'll just bring my card w/ me.
