Finally after years of dreaming my family and i are going to Disney in September.
We will be on a tight budget so i was wondering what we will need money for besides the food and souviners. We got the myw plus dining when we booked our trip. thanks for the help

Congratulations on booking. The hard part is over so let's see if we can address the rest of your concerns. Are you planning on going anywere outside of the parks? There are a lot of places down there to go play putt-putt or ride go-carts. There are a lot of other places that you can have fun outside of the parks as well so watch out for that. I have spent as little as $1000 during a week on stuff and over $2000 for the same amount of time.

I will say this. I love Disney but it is a trap. You get down there and get into the magic and then you can go crazy.

Are you driving or flying? We're in the same boat as you, but we're flying so I have the additional cost of parking the car while we're gone. I would have mom/dad pick us up but I would hate if a flight was cancelled or delayed delaying them. Other than that food, souveniers, tips for mousekeeping if you so desire, extra tips for those that do an exemplary job, and an emergency fund in case anything were to happen to anyone. If we need to go to emergency for any reason, our ins. deductible is $75. I'll probably set aside $150 just for this only because we're also doing this vacation without credit cards.

Congratulations on your trip. One thing to add to your budget numbers is to remember what you are NOT spending while home. Are you saving on gas for the car, eating out, newspapers, normal groceries. Remember during a normal week you spend for the day to day things. Add what ever you would budget for that into your vacation budget because youd spend it if you just stayed home.

We just returned home from our first trip 1n 10 years to Disney. We had tickets for Disney, Universal, Sea World and Wetand Wild. We also had 6 meal vouchers for Disney. there are 4 in our family, me, my husband, 9 year old daughter, and 16 year old son. We had plenty of money. We brought 2,000 with us ( well it was on our debit cards) and we had credit cards to use if we needed more .I was amazed at how little out of pocket money we spent. We stayed at vistana Villages, with a full kitchen, so the first day we were there I went to the store and bought 2 boxes of cereal, juice, coffee, soda, bagels, a loaf of bread, frozen sausage patties, sliced cheese and a dozen eggs. That took care of breakfast all week except for 1 box of donuts that we later bought. In the parks on 2 days we spent no money at all! We brought Brita water bottles with us, and they were so nice to have!!We even added crystal light lemonade to one of the bottles, just take the filter out first. This saved us alot of money. One day we picked up subs from subway for dinner, because we had a big meal at Disney with our meal vouchers. Another day the kids wanted Mcdonalds, so that was $10. We ordered from the dollar menu! One night we ate at sizzler, a buffet, that bill was $42. One night we ate at Golden corral, $46. We ate at the outback, that was $80. I was planning on at least $200 a day but we did not spend anywhere near that. We did have a few snacks in the parks, turkey legs are $5 each, but well worth it.

Thanks for the help guys. I had planned on about 2 hundred dollars a day so it sounds like I will be okay. We plan on a trip to wal-mart for some essentials when we get there. Can't live without wal-mart at least once :) That should save on snacks and such.
