Monday-Friday the week AFTER T-giving?

I think we would be okay leaving home Sunday or Monday heading down 5 in the morning locally...but what will we encounter down the road? Guess I'm wondering if there would be post Thanksgiving crowds coming home. We always stay local so have no idea. :confused3

Was just thinking though...if we do Monday and run late we could get stuck in SoCal commute traffic. Hmmm.....Thanks for the opinions.

I wouldn't worry about this. While Wednesday before there is a lot of travel. The return trip get distributed over the 3 days after Thankgiving. I've never had problems on Sunday.

Can I ask why Friday is SO MUCH more crowded? I can see locals coming in after work but that would be later in the day, right?

As I said, Candlelight Processional.

Thanks! I am thinking Sun-Thurs. Sunday would mostly be travel but we should be able to get there sometime in the afternoon. I might take advantage of that and go ahead and buy tickets for Sun!!

I agree with Kailuagirl. Friday of last year was REALLY crowded. We went on 1 ride, watched the parade then left and went shopping at World of Disney because it was way too crowded and the wait for rides was long. I believe it was due to the candlelight processional being that weekend.

Candle Light Proccesion does not make the parks busy. It only creates a crowd on Main Street. It doesn't bring tens of thousands of extra people to the park.

Well it looks like we're going to do Monday-Thursday. Fly in Monday and out Friday. If the flight schedules don't have us leaving until the afternoon, I MAY be able to eek out a few morning hours Friday, but we'll have to see.

I am really hoping for low crowds. We went the first week of March and the Tuesday-Thursday were incredible.

We aren't worried about missing out on fireworks, fantasmic etc. because we saw them all in March.

This trip will be about the Matterhorn and CarsLand ;)

So..... was this ALL day on Friday, or later on in the day when people started getting off of work? Is that how Fridays are? Or are they busy all day because people are taking long weekends or what? Also... would the CP be on Sat. and Sun. since Sat. is the 1st of December? I read someone speculating in another post that the CP might be the following weekend this year Since Dec. 1st fell on a Saturday.

We live in northern CA...will the roads be busy if we drive down the Sunday after Thanksgiving? I think we would leave around 6 or 7 for a early afternoon arrival. Or would driving down Monday be better? Just trying to maximize the low crowd days! :)

We drove from the Bay Area on Sunday last year....left around 6 am. We really didn't have traffic, but we did have the worst fog I have ever experienced. There were areas that I could only drive 10-20 mph...made me so nervous. Finally cleared up right before the Grapevine and it was smooth sailing from there. I was curious about holiday traffic, but it never materialized.

Fridays get busier because some people start vacations on them, this causes a small ride in attendance that is accelerated if it preceeds a vacation period. They are busy in the evening and night because people come after work.

The CP is on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Runs twice each night 5:30 and 8pm. It usually falls the first weekend of December, but this isn't always the case.

My 40th Birthday is on Saturday, November 24. And I want to celebrate it Disney style. So we're thinking of arriving that day and staying through til Thursday. I know it will be crowded Saturday and Sunday. Am I making too big a deal about being in the park on my actual birthday? Maybe we'd be better off arriving Sunday instead and pretending it's still my birthday?

We've been at Christmas time before but not for about 15 years and never with our children. The last two trips have been at Halloween time and I told my husband I wanted to do Christmas time this time. Can't wait.

If you go to the park to celebrate your birthday, it doesn't need to be your actual birthday just go and have fun.

While it will be crowded on your arrrival, Satuday and or Sunday, try to relax enjoy being in the park and not focus on rides. Use a few FastPasses, see some of the big attractions that are shows like the Tiki Room or It's Tough to be a Bug. It will be slow on Monday and you can get all the rides you want on those weekdays.

That's exactly what I was thinking. We are going to get either a 5 or 6 day pass since there is so little difference between the two and just enjoy our week there. During the busy weekend, we'd just take advantage of the things that weren't busy and then enjoy Carsland and other stuff during the week when it isn't busy.

We were there this past October and arrived on a Saturday and stayed through Wednesday and pretty much did the same thing.
