Hi all, we are looking at prices for flighs for next September. Most airlines don't give prices that far in advance but i came across Monarch.

3 Adults ( DS will be 12) and 1 child
22nd Sep - 6th Oct
gatwick to Sanford
£1898

This seems a great price to me, has anyone flown with them before and if so how was the flight/service?

thanks

That's a fantastic price, and I think we would have booked but when I called you have to pay in full now and with us flying out to WDW at the beginning of September I think we need to save our pennies!!!

I've never flown to the US with Monarch but my experience flying with them in Europe they've been brilliant and I wouldn't have hesitated in booking the deal that you found if it would have been deposit only at this stage.

Great deal though, thanks for letting us know.

We first went with them newcastle to Sandford in 07, cheap price made up for the cramped seats & poor enterainment system (small TV down the middle every6/7 rows).
We went again in 2008 & were treated really badly. The flight took 24 hours from leaving home as the plane was faulty (this had been happening all that week) a re placement plane was found but it was a smaller one, we had to stop at Gatwick & Canada
At Gatwick we couldn't take off as we needed a new starter motor & sat for 2/3 hours with no air conditioning. (same at Canada, although we were allowed off the plane here).
Our tv's didn't work & only 1 snack type meal was provided. Throughout all this we were given no information which was the most frustrating part. On our way back we arrived at the airport to be told of a 12 hour delay. We booked into the lounge there, so this was fine. We recieved no compensation, just standard letters.

hI ALL,

Are there any other airline that release flights more than 12 months ahead ???

cheers guys...

Not that I am aware of, or at least not the major airlines. But it looks like it's not going to be Monarch :rotfl:

Just quoted Monarch for August next year for 2 adults and 1 DD
£2200 :scared:

You may as well wait and look into other major airlines as soon as your window opens in October some time. Some indirect routes are really not that bad. I held off of it due to travelling alone with a young child, but honestly connections didn't stop me if I had someone flying with me. How old is your DD and would you do indirect? Depending where you fly from and where you connect, some of them are really not bad, although Wayne mentioned recently that price differences between direct and indirect can be nominal in some cases so you need to do a good comparison.

If you are quite happy with Sanford you could also look into Thomas Cook and Thomsons as they are often cheaper (I think you also save on airport tax going to Sanford rather than MCO which keeps ticket prices down somewhat).

Ah thanks for your help i pretty much thought the same too, we normally go with Virgin but dont wanna miss out on the 42% off offer thats on now..

D/D will be six so indirect wouldnt be the worst case as long as worth the saving of course !

Didnt know that about Sanford !

Cheers :)

Hi guys...

Just a quick one, what what should i be expecting to pay for our flights in mid august next year i know thats a million dollar question but it justs give me an idea on how much we need to budget for, when we went last year in June with Virgin we paid about £1000 i know it will be more but would like an idea pls...

Ta

Can't help you from experience on that one. August seems to be the most expensive time of the year to travel at the moment. Someone from my office just booked flights with Thomas Cook into Sanford a few weeks back, leaving at the end of July and paid a little over £400 per person (all adults). I know they are doing DIY so they only booked flights and as they will have a car, they are happy with Sanford. So many people are going in August this year and often those who do, do so as it is the only time they can go so if you can hold on a while you should get some responses from the gurus who have done it! :goodvibes

Even though my DH works in airline industry we couldn't get a deal on any flights for this year, we have booked a package as it worked out cheaper! Crazy but true!! We do have to stick to school holidays though.

I also did okay on a package flight price wise. I booked about 17 months out and at the time it looked like I had been ripped off vs DIY. Shortly after flights were released, I was looking more like the one with a bargain.

Hi!

Not sure about Thomas cook prices this year, but we flew with TC gatwick - Sanford, aug 11-aug 25 last year, and we paid just over £1800 for 4 adults. We found the service to be excellent and fantastic value for money, and would definitely fly with them again to save on the £££s!

Happy flight hunting :)

cHEers for the help guys, im hoping we can get out flights for about £1500 max thats 2 adults and our DD !!
